I can only go by my experience with Mercury and what shows up for me. I'm never asked for a cc number for the freebie. As I said (and others indicated as well) there is a pop up for Blue Dolphin Magazines where you can pick other titles and on that page, yes, you can put in your cc # if you want those magazines. I always just close that window because I'm not interested. I'm never asked for a cc # for the Esquire freebie.

Thanks for sharing this! I also just filled out the basic info forms and it worked for me. Free magazines don't need credit card numbers or bank account numbers. It is just a ploy to get you registered in a paid subscription.
