Personally, I think this whole spat may be good for equal marriage rights in the long run. Did you see that politicians Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee are now trying to rally all homophobes to eat at Chick-fil-A?

I’m thrilled. In fact, I encourage all bigots to load up on transfats and carbohydrates. Go ahead – eat your heart out on the “Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit” breakfast! Mmmm.

The problem is that $3mm in Chik-fil-A profits go directly to organizations that work to deny homosexuals and bisexuals equal rights under U.S. law. Otherwise, this would just be a blow-over war of words (akin to Robertson blaming hurricanes on pagans and feminists). As soon as Cathy put money behind those words, it became something much bigger.

So..... what is the problem here folks?

From a business stand point, I think their worst religious based decision is not being open on Sunday. Even more so than all the anti whatever that has been going on lately. The chick fil a near me just about always has customers, especially on Saturdays and I'd imagine Sundays would be just as good if not better.

What better place to stop for lunch on the way home from church than a joint that has similar conservative views...

The problem is that his words can lead to hateful reactions against gays. Words lead to actions. Anyways as you say that the owner had a right to voice his opinion and he also has the right to suffer the repercussions.

The problem is that his words can lead to hateful reactions against gays. Words lead to actions.

Has there been any instances of this happening since his interview?

At least for now, not that I know of. However, what restaurant president said is just one more thing that will be added to the anti-gay rhetoric that has been going on, which continues to suppress the passage of pro-gay marriage laws.

It's refreshing to see a company so confident in their sales figures that they have no problem alienating millions of customers and advertisers.

But is it not discrimination for a city mayor or politician to prevent a business from conducting business simply because of a personal opinion of the owner? as far as I can tell Chic-Fil-A hasn't kept anyone from doing anything.

How come anyone whom opposes gay marriage is instantly labeled a bigoted, homophobe by a large majority of people on the left? Also, I don't know if it's necessarily fair to say "large majority" but rather a very "vocal majority"?

Also, I'm not saying you said that necessarily, but the a lot of people on the left got their panties in a wad last week over this non-issue.
