It has 15.6" display at 1366x768? Everything is going to look like Minecraft! That's only a slightly higher resolution than some smartphones!

I'll never understand why manufacturers build an otherwise capable laptop and then cripple it by giving it such a crappy display.

If its only onboard video it isn't worth it. Thanks though.

My toshiba has the GT 540m. I have tried running programs with both integrated and dedicated, and the integrated (Intel HD 3000) ofcourse struggles more in games (Lag). The GT 540m performs awesome in games. Tested it with Codemasters GRID Racing.

I highly recommend a cooling pad for the toshiba laptops running dedicated.

I have an asus with 540M (just got it) so IDK if it suffers from heating issues, though I'd love to have a little insurance.

Great price for an i7 ivy bridge, not really made for the gamer (unless you only play games like diablo 3 or so) but a solid option for any college student

Why upgrade it to an SSD and pay $200+ MORE for a 128gb or $400+ MORE for a 256gb when you can buy them for less than half of that, and have a spare HDD to slave on a PC etc??? Not to mention choice of SSD's (ie crucial M4 or Sammy 830)

I think intel hd 4000 is better than amd's 6520g but worse than amd's A8 6620g integrated gfx--so not nearly as good as true dedicated gfx gt 540. But 6620g and intel hd 4000 can play games nicely(20-45FPS) at low-medium settings, so not too bad. But dedicated gfx will allow medium or high settings at smoother 30-60FPS.

-If gaming graphics + powerful CPU is a necessity then better deals may be found with "atleast" 2nd gen Intel i5 or i7 combined with GT 540 gfx & better, rather than iveybridge cpu with integrated (intelhd4000).

-If you are mostly interested in gaming, then you can even get by on less expensive AMD A6/A8 llanos with good dedicated gfx (7670m, 6850m, 6750m, 6650m). But very intensive CPU data crunching tasks will suffer a little more in comparison to 2nd gen INtel and iveybridge.

-If interested strictly as a fast "work" laptop, then you can get this Iveybridge or less expensive 2nd gen i5 or i7 with dedicated graphics being optional.(dedicated gfx only needed for gaming/CAD work, etc).

note: build quality on Asus, Lenovo, maybe Toshiba and others look like they may be a little better than the Acers I mentioned eg. keyboard, reliability, etc.

thumbs up for a good deal, but not for me, I need 1080 gonna keep looking but posting to inform that upgrading screen is not an option.
