Can I "refuse" a DHL package like you can with UPS ?

OP 1,165 April 16, 2007 at 06:49 AM
I ordered a PSU from Frys.com, it shipped, then the price dropped 20 bones.... I called, they wouldn't just credit me the money, so I'm going to reorder, and simply refuse the package which should save me return shipping cost yes ?

Unless they do like they do here when they deliver: jump out of the truck, toss the package on the porch when they get within 3 feet, jump back in the truck and away they go!!! They don't knock on the door, they don't get a signature, they don't care if they leave the package in plain sight (or at the wrong address), or if it's pouring down rain. Toss it and go.

i've refused packages that they dropped, just don't open it and give it back next time they come to your door or drop it in a local store .

laugh out loud
is that it?
UPS guys has thrown a couple of packages to my balcony laugh out loud Mad

i live in an apartment, where there is no porch or back yard, etc, nothing, except a balcony (second floor)
once I came home and saw the ups notice, I said shit, i'll have to wait for them tomorrow, but then I saw the check mark in "back door"
I said : Confused wtf Confused

after a few seconds of looking for a "back door" to my apartment that maybe I didn't know (laugh out loud , not really), I thought, hey maybe... no, that cannot be possible, well , let's rule it out, so I went to the balcony to see my package sitting right there laugh out loud

Yes, Sevillada -- I know what you say!! Two different times I've had DHL "say" they delivered a package that WAS NOT AT MY HOUSE. Called them up and a day later it arrived. They delivered to the wrong address and were lucky enough to retrieve the package and make delivery to me.

You should be able to call them up and refuse delivery on the package. Don't open it! Call them up and tell them to come over and get it. I used to deal with UPS all the time with call tags, insurance claims, package refusal, etc. I am sure that DHL must have similar policies.

FYI: with UPS, sometimes you can call in and refuse it before it ever reaches your door.. depends on where it is in shipment.. (you have to have the tracking number to do this)

you can also let the driver come up to your door and don't open the door, so that he wastes time for the time he made you lose (some other time) laugh out loud
it will take longer to go back and get credit though
