Shipped within a couple of hours from VA. Should be here (ID) on the 7th via UPS Ground. Wish they would of had the 1712, but no one seems to have those. Denon must have made a ton of the 1612, or else they didn't sell nearly as well as the 1712. Oh well, I can always upgrade later, but I think the 1612 will power my Pioneer 5.1 system without any problems for quite a few years, or until I'm ready to drop some real money on a home theater.

kind of sucks i ordered a refurbished one for $193 last week which had some gouges on the volume control and some other minor scratches

you put the code in at checkout after you fill out all your info. You wont see a field for it until then. If you use Paypal you'll see it before the final confirmation.

If you're trying to save money buy some used speakers and sub off Craigslist. It'll be far better than computer speakers. |

Was about to pull the trigger until I realized it isn't multi-zone. I'm looking for a receiver that has two zones so I can play music in the game room without buying a second receiver. Anybody know of a good deal on a decent multi-zone unit?

I went to Bestbuy last night looking for any of those Denon open box deal, but they were still a little too high on the prices and didn't want to budge. I ended up browsing around the home theater dept wasting time and saw a last year model Pioneer VSX-1021 and a VSX-821 way up on a shelf, both new. After getting a guy to do a price check, the 1021 was going for $219, and the 821 was going for $164. I ended up getting the 1021 for $208 because the box had been opened and closed back, but nothing was ever touched.
Have not set it up yet, but I couldn't pass up some of the neat features for only a little more. I hope it works well. YMMV, but worth a look if you have some free time. |
