AMD A6-3670K unlocked + MSI A55M-P33 + MSI Radeon HD 6570 $111.07 AR/FS Newegg
Newegg Combo Deal - TODAY ONLY $151.97 - $10 rebate/motherboard - $30 rebate/video card = $111.97 free shipping
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Com...mbo.981976
1. AMD A6-3670K Unlocked Llano 2.7GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 6530D
2. MSI R6570-MD1G/LP Radeon HD 6570 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card
3. MSI A55M-P33 FM1 AMD A55 (Hudson D2) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
There is a $10 rebate for the motherboard ending 7/31. At this time it hasn't updated, but a new rebate for the video card starts today for $30 - https://msi.4myrebate.com/Claim/O...=MSI-11390. Newegg often is late getting new rebates up, thank you Zerox for providing the link in the thread on just the video card, and thanks to the OP of the video card deal which got me to look at combo deals. http://slickdeals.net/f/4952878-F...st52057130 I got this message using the discount code from the video thread, so I didn't apply it to the deal here - "The Promo Code EMCNCGJ49 you entered is for individual items not sold as combos. Please adjust your shopping cart to use this Promo Code".
I want to get this thread posted, but if you look at my posts in the previous FM1 thread for $50 at Microcenter, you'll see that this processor will Crossfire with the HD 6570/6670 Video Card. The graphics on the same chip as the CPU are very sensitive to memory speed, and respond well to overclocking. Since you are getting essentially a crossfired ATI HD 6570 plus a quad-core chip, this is probably the best budget gaming combo available, with the caveat that it may not be very upgradable.
You should be able to build this sytem with one of the $20 AR 400-430 watt PSU Antec/Corsair deals that have been routinely coming out of Newegg. It's also a Micro-ATX board, and since the Video Card has a low profile bracket you may be able to fit it in a smaller case. I would be careful, though, as this is a 100 watt APU and especially if you overclock in a small case you can run into real heat problems. Just put it in one of the $20-$30 AR rebate cases that Newegg has been offering every few weeks.
Added - if you want a discussion on the FM1 series of APU, versus the Intel G620 series, the thread here is what got me looking at them. http://slickdeals.net/f/4915798-A...Center-B-M This deal is the best combo of this kind of seen recently, IF you are willing to accept the upgrade limitations. This is NOT an upgrade path machine (go socket 1155) but a solid budget gaming/HTPC that you don't plan to upgrade.
Additional link, found my bookmark on the effects of faster memory/overclocking on the Llano A8-3850. It's the next step up in the FM1 family, but the scaling issues should be identical. What it boils down to is faster memory REALLY makes a difference with these chips, and the motherboard included in the deal will take DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866. Now you have a good reason to maybe pay a little extra for some 1866 memory, if I hadn't gotten in on the dual GTX460 rebate a couple of Xmases back via SD and Tigerdirect, I'd be all over this. http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...75-12.html
Board evidently can be overclocked, at least according to MSI.
