Kin One recovery after factory reset

So my niece has a Kin One phone and apparently a friend tried to guess her password too many times and in doing so erased all my nieces texts, contacts, pictures etc. Is there any possible way to recover anything from her phone? The pictures are obviously the most important, although she would say all of it is most important.

FYI I connected the phone to my desktop and her laptop, but the phone doesn't even show up in Windows Explorer. I also did some searches and didn't find anything but say we're SOL. But before we threw in the towel, I thought I'd ask the experts here.

I would say no, most of the time these are designed to wipe everything for security reasons, it would defeat this if it could re recovered. Poor girl with a Kin, is she going to upgrade to a blackberry next . ..

I think she's eyeing the Palm Pre.

FYI she's 14 and data is blocked, so it's a perfect phone. She just needs new friends. Although I hear she's constantly begging for an iPhone.
