Free Amazon Cloud Player Premium (MP3 upgrades and legitimacy) for many SD'ers - $25 for others

Are you saying that I can only access these improved files as long as I'm paying for the $25 service? Or can I only access them via Amazon's Cloud with the Premium service? If I can convert, download, and move to Google, I'm happy.

Well, sorry for getting defensive myself. I tried using Google's Cloud player a few weeks ago with my Droid and with the songs downloaded on my phone's storage as well as being on their Cloud, I kept getting duplicates for everything, so I switched back to Amazon which can separate my Cloud vs Saved songs. Sounds like I need to figure out Google's player a little bit better. When I get home, I'll be sure to try this out.

sounds the OP is saying screw your music! What about my deal! in a very nice way of course. I am not a member and dont ever plan on paying for cloud storage.

This is correct, but my impression is that once you've done all the converting you need, you can drop down to the $10/yr plan to keep the 20GB of storage you have. I'm not familiar with the other features of CPP that would be worth keeping the service, but 50GB is nice for some.

The message box when I opened the service said that any existing music would be kept on Cloud Drive and Cloud Player after the change. However, I don't have over 5GB of music, so perhaps there is a separate message for those affected users. You should be able to keep it on Cloud Drive though in the meantime (it should already be there).

Not sure about this one as I'm not sure it allows you to redownload the 256Kbps. Someone else confirm this as my stuff is all on Google.

This change beyond stinks. I spent a significant mount of time uploading an organizing my music on the Amazon cloud and now I have to do it all over again in Google (which will probably also make some stupid change since Amazon did). What makes no sense is that we still get 5GB of free space - just not music - what is the point of that?

Because I have more than 250 songs I am getting a free upgrade for 1 month so I can start deleting songs - gee thanks Amazon.

Does it pro-rate when you switch from $25 to $10? Or are you saying switch to $10 from Free Trial? I guess a better question is does it remove the "converted" files once you drop out of CPP?

Probably not a pro-rate. I intended the 'switching' comment for those who are already grand-fathered into the Premium plan. If you are just starting out, you'd probably have to pay $25 this year, and downgrade starting next year.

Could have sworn I bought an album with the 20GB last year, but it's still show me as Free version. Oh well, time to go elsewhere.

Or, like ShengD mentioned, pay $10 to save your grandfathered status in case you want to pay $25 instead of $50 somewhere down the line. The grandfathered status gives free CPP after 50GB of storage.

I still want someone to confirm that the upgraded songs are downloadable. If not, then I don't believe this is much of a deal. In fact,that would be just like Apple's Premium service. Now, if these songs are downloadable, this thread gets a thumbs up from me.
