Intel pricing is substantially higher so it is unusual to see a non budget Intel CPU around $300. This isn't just Intel or Celeron branded, it is an i3. You can comment about how it should be priced a certain way, reality is that it is usually priced higher.

USB 3.0 hasn't been included on Intel chipsets until quite recently and perhaps even then only on more premium chipsets. USB 3.0 is still a premium feature and this is a low end model.

Igorance. Why would all power supplies need to be over 300W when most computers will idle ~60W and maybe ~120W at full load?

Perhaps but my point was that usb 3.0 is becoming a standard (see deals in externals) so one needs it. A usb card has problems.

Seriously, are people griping about the lack of USB 3.0 and space for a second optical drive on a $279 i3 desktop?

The processor is a second-gen Intel, it runs at a native 3.3ghz (faster than some/most of the 2nd gen notebook Intels), has a 1T HD, card reader, HDMI-out, and so on. It's processor scores a 4220 on cpubenchmark, and is upgradable along with the RAM and addition of a GPU.

I'm tempted to think of it as a 1T external hard drive with a computer attached for only another $180.

USB 3.0 cards can be added to the system. They are not included at purchase. Upgrading to USB 3.0 is possible but I don't believe having it included on this system should be expected.

just picked one up in store ...the staples guy was going on and on about how good of a deal it was at $379 .... so I told him I'd take one ... met him at checkout then whipped out my $105 worth of coupons and he jizzed himself ...it was quite entertaining ... $296 out the door after tax...

Great to hear, sent my parents off to buy one and was worried that it might not work (sale+coupon). Still tempted to buy one, even if I don't need it (to be honest)....

edit: Parents picked one up. Now they can (finally) replace their ~8 year old Pentium 4 system....

edit2: Can anyone confirm that it has 4GB or 6GB? On the front page of the Staples listing it says 4GB, but if you click on "specifications" it says 6GB?

Looks like they may not even ship these. I checked my order status and it say's "We're sorry, but problems with your order may prevent us from delivering it on time."

Order status is: "Researching".

Mine is still showing as Processing order but still showing delivery date of tomorrow. I'm hoping the don't cancel. My credit card is still showing the charge of $299.59 as Pending

I don't think I'll be seeing mine tomorrow
