Are these tablets worth to buy?
I've been searching for a decent and affordable tablet, but I don't know much about tablets. I saw this on ebay for $259.99 for 8GB WiFi 10.1inch. Please give me some thoughts and suggestions. Thanks alotWhat I need for a table is: 1) web browser 2) Youtube/Facebook 3) Netflix, games, apps Last edited by calibuon; 07-31-2012 at 10:15 PM.. |

Today only, and while supplies last, 1SaleADay has the refurbished Acer Iconia Tab A200 10-inch Android tablet for $159.99, plus $4.99 for shipping. That's without a doubt one of the lowest prices I've seen on a name-brand 10-inch tablet.
The A200 is the slightly downgraded version of the A500. It comes with a 1,280x800-pixel screen, 8GB of storage (easily expandable via dirt-cheap microSD cards), a front-facing camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and Android 3.2 (which you can easily bump to Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, via an over-the-air update). So, what doesn't the A200 have that the A500 does? Two key items: an HDMI output and a rear-facing camera. |
The Google Nexus7 [youtube.com] has got to be the hottest tablet right now, and it is selling from the Google play Store, for the ridiculously low price of $200. It comes with a quad core processor, a 16 core graphics processor, front facing camera, and the latest Android operating system called Jelly Bean. If I remember correctly, it's the 3rd most powerful tablet around, and only $200. What a joke. If you're flexible on the size of the tablet you'd like to own, I don't think you can find anything close to being as good as the Nexus7 at that price. |

When was that? I would have bought one myself if I'd seen that. as if the deal wasn't already awesome, but to get it delivered to my door for $200 flat???? What a slick deal. |

The tegra 3 chip is the fastest chip out there for a tablet. Even if you have to pay tax the Google Nexus Tablet is still worth it. There are deals on SD ALLLLLLLL the friggin time for tablets. Learn how to use SD and get yourself one.

Another recommendation for the Google Nexus 7. Even if you have to go with the 8gb to save a little money this is by far the best tablet on the market. It is super fast, has a nice screen, has GPS, NFC, Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0, 12 GPU cores, 4 CPU cores, 1gb of system ram. I really love the 7" screen size and I sold the 10" tablet I had. This is an official Google tablet, so any updates Google does to Android you will get it very quickly, other tablets could take months+ to get an update if they update at all. If you don't want to pay the $15 shipping from the Google playstore you can buy it locally at Staples, Sams Club, Gamestop and others (Most retailers are out of stock but slowly getting more).
The problem with these generic tablets are they are low end, cheaply build, with questionably functional software. Usually they contain versions of android that are at least 1 if not more generations old. It's likely they will never get upgraded either. Support for stuff like cases will be non existent, Support from people in forums will be limited since market share is small, this is also true for developers who want to make 3rd party roms. These no name brand tablets use to be a decent choice for the nerd on a budget, but for the first timer, the experience will not be great and I think you will regret it. If you decide against a Google Nexus 7" I would then recommend one of these other options above used, or even an HP touchpad. Its very easy to put Android on these and the experience is good. They are also pretty inexpensive used. You should be able to pick up a 32gb for under $175, and a 16gb for around $150 or less. There is a big community around these so lots of people to help, update, etc. Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

Darn right we are and today's tablet Slick Deal is called the Nexus 7. There is only one new $200 tablet with that level of power and versatility. It's a no brainer !
