I'd be all over this except for two things:

1) The screen resolution is 1366x768 on a 15.6'' screen. This requires way too much scrolling for my taste.

2) The keyboard includes a numpad (good) but this means that the actual typing keyboard is offset from center to the left. I can imagine that will get really annoying. I like my keyboards centered.

When it comes down to it, I interact with the screen and the keyboard more than anything else on the laptop. If both are deficient, it's a deal-breaker for me.

Why isn't this deal getting more attention? Has there been a deal this good on a laptop ever? I mean Last I checked $300 is the best price a last gen i3 with no turbo boost, weaker gpu, half as much ram, and less than 1/2 the hard drive space went for. $400 for something with these specs especially with a current gen cpu is just unbelievable.

The rebate submission form and the name on the Student ID should match.
On the .com form, it says you can't submit online, but mail in with copy of your student ID. I have my college ID laying somewhere, but will staples call the registrar and verify if I'm still student there?

Those two things and the integrated video card, are shortfalls, but all these can be overcame by add a big monitor and a wireless keyboard/mouse. Hope it's 12" then. I do think screen resolution is still too low.

For Student ID discount, the form should have the name of the Student ID card holder or the buyer. Just concerned, coz I am assuming the 100$ debit card will come in the name of the person whose name is on the form.

If I'm reading the "store bought" version of the rebate correctly, you just present the student ID in person. For the "easy version" of the "store bought" rebate, you need to submit a copy of the student ID, but I don't see it demanding it in the snail mail version. That being said, I'm not sure what the B&M store does to prove/verify that a student ID was presented.

I think you got a good run out of it, that is a lot of years on a laptop. Expect the same on a new one.
