I'm in a similar situation to joshuaH. I tried holding the WDS button and I still can't get to CFE... The Ethernet connection light on my laptop stopped lighting up. I tried all ports including WAN.

I had the same problem after flashing tomato. set your computer to a static IP and the try logging in. Then just enable dhcp. I hope this helps.

I want to offer some advice and experiences with 1saleAday and setting up Tomato on 3 or more routers.
I ordered 5x n600 belkin routers and it took 5 business days just for them to ship out the order.
Furthermore, I still have to wait 5 additional business days to receive the product. So 10 business days, almost 2 weeks waiting. Another thing is if you do not ask, 1saleaday (ebay) will just have UPS drop the package on your porch...so Watch the Tracking Status like a Hawk or someone could steal your package off your porch...it happened to me the first time.

A few more things: if you do use Tomato, AP+WDS Mode and you have 3 or more routers, enable spanning tree protocol (STP)....this will allow all nodes to be able to talk to each other (Mesh Network) without your network crashing every time you reboot a router. Otherwise your 3 or nodes will talk in a daisy chain network and could stop communicating with each other.

Lastly there is a new Tomato Release as of June or July 2012: Tomato Firmware v1.28.7500 MIPSR2Toastman-VLAN-RT K26 USB VPN-NOCAT is what I use.

The link light stays off on my laptop, cannot connect to network, media disconnected. Setting a static ip address didn't help.

a)did you connect a Ethernet cord from your laptop to the LAN ports? (DO NOT plug the cable in Wan/Yellow port!!)
b) is your laptop ethernet adapter set as 192.168.1.5, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway and dns as 192.168.1.1?
c) if yes to both of those try 192.168.1.1 in your web browser. make sure your wifi is turned off or disabled.
d) once you get in the primary tomato router, under basic settings, enable dhcp service so clients can pull a ip address wirelessly or on LAN cable.
e) if you still cannot connect you either have something networked wrong or you flashed it incorrectly.

Follow pooslingingfoo's advice.
Make sure your ethernet cable is plugged in all the way.
Also see if its broadcasting. if it is, just type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. The login should be admin/root. Let us know how this works out.
