sorry my bad... I should have said 20MBps consistently and peaked at 80MBps Smilie

my main router and this N600 are in the same room probably some 25 feet away with some furniture in between but that's all.
sounds awesome and a cheap upgrade for me.

Bought this on the last deal from 1saleaday for $30 shipped. Loaded dd-wrt on it following the proper steps and set it up as a wireless access point (for wireless N). Used it for about a week without a problem. Unfortunately, I forgot what I set the password to and had to do a 30-30-30 reset on the router. After doing a 30-30-30 reset, the router seems to be bricked. The power light does not come on anymore and shows up as unconnected when connected to an ethernet port. I have tried another 30-30-30 reset and have tried to access the mini CFE server but have gotten nothing. I may try opening it up, connecting jtag (need to buy), and erasing the nvram unless anyone has any other ideas.

connected a linux desktop to the router by ethernet cable. the desktop could not get a correct ip address. wireless works fine with linux.

FYI, this router on newest firmware still stinks. I have my router updated to latest factory firmware. I have Charter internet (the $29.99 plan for 30 mps). When first turned on router after latest update, it got about 60 mps (connected through cable modem, meaning, line goes into cable modem first, then router, then to computer). After an hour, it got slower, after about 12 hours, it's about 4 mps. Reboot (I just pull power plug, wait 15 minutes, and plug back in) solves the issue for a few hours, then it does the slow-down thing again. This happens every day, over and over, and...

I'm going to try the mini ddrt build and see if that solves the problem.

I've seen MANY bad reviews on this router. Many. I'd do a lot of your own research before you hit "buy".

Rocking thanks, I just need a decent router to function as a print server so all my connected devices can print to the sucker without having to go through my PC! Hope it's an easy setup.

Once you flash one of those fancy firmwares, the setup should be a no brainer ya?
I can't answer about WDS setup, but just google either "tomato WDS" or "dd-wrt WDS" and see if you can manage...
Also, not all printers provide network drivers. It's not the same thing as connecting printer directly to PC via USB and connecting to router via USB. If you shared your printer on a PC and were able to print from other devices, you are good to go.

it's crap out of the box, but amazing hardware for the price once you install DDWRT or Tomato. That's why it's a deal.

Thanks for the report on latest stock firmware. Let us know if DD-WRT fixes your issue.

Can someone please explain to me how this router is any different than the Belkin N600 DB?

First of all, let me just say, I am not tech savvy.

Currently I have a G-Network router and g network adapter PCI card in my desktop that results in a very weak signal strength (one bar out of five) which is affecting my download/upload speeds according to SpeedTest.net as currently configured in my house. I've tried moving the router around and rotated my desktop to get better reception from the antenna sticking in the back for a gain of about one bar.

So at this point I am looking to purchase a dual band router with only two criteria, very high transmitting power (signal strength), and N network type. In the end I just to make sure I have whatever I need to get at least 4 bars. That's all. No USB ports, fancy apps, bridging, *insert advanced networking options word,* etc.

I've already purchased a dual band wireless adapter. Now I just need the router to match. My wireless adapter is an N300 Belkin

Thank you in advance to whoever replies!

To get to CFE, you hold the WDS button while plugging into power. I beat my head for 30 minutes trying to figure that one out but read that it needs to be the WDS button. The Share Max 300 is the one that needs the reset buttons pressed while powering on to get to CFE updater.

It's only 34.99 on Amazon if you're concerned about this seller/ebay. Free SSS, fulfilled by Amazon.

That link is to the N600, not the N600 HD. It only has one USB port and the wired connections are 100 mbit rather than 1 gbit.

The N600 HD is $43.95.

You're right - it's not the exact same. I updated my post and thanks.
