Thread Details

Seems this is similar to the retention offer, sure ooma may be cheaper but you do not have to pay $150 plus for the box, you have 24/7 CS with Basic Talk. Tax's / fees are $3 or so in Colorado. Also no increase in price ever!

Quite a saving on the old plan, appears that 411 is not included however there are many other options for 411

Also includes free adapter and as of May 2013 no longer requires a contract

I am assuming International calls are not included like they are in the otherwise 9.99/3months then 24.99 plan?

I currently have vonage and just called and got switched into an unlimited US & Canada for $9.99. I wanted the basic talk and the first rep(US based most likely) said they cannot do anything, bla bla bla...., then went on the chat page off the Basic Talk detail page and asked the rep there and she said I can switch into the Basic Talk plan as existing. So called again and got a offshore based rep it seems, and he told me I can't get the Basic Talk, but he can give me the unlimited for $9.99, plus no contract at all. So if you are existing just try the reps, and if you get what seems like a US based rep then just hang up on them, LOL, and try again.

I just called Vonage to change my plan from the $17.00 a month plan I had to the $9.99 plan. Coincidentally, I just got an email today that said my plan is increasing by $1.00 mo on Sept 24th. Of course - Customer (NON)service told me the $9.99 plan is only available to new customers so I called back and told them I wanted to cancel my service. All of a sudden they FOUND a plan that is available for $9.99 a month and I said go ahead and change me over to that. Why do they have to play games with customers? Thanks to the OP and Reps!

I had vonage for 7 years now on various plans from 29.99 to 11.99. I called to switch over to this 9.99 basictalk plan and first the stupid guy told me that i would have to cancel my account and open a new one to get this rate, I asked to speak to his manager and he also said the same thing so i asked that it be cancelled. At the end the account specialist told me that she will be able to change it for me without cancelling my account

the plan is 9.99 + tax and fees for the life of the account unlimited calls to US/Canada/PR.

I did not even have to have the 1 year agreement since i been a long time member of vonage.

What is price after 1 yr is up? I can't find the #2 remark for the plan.
when I called I was told it depends on what calling plans are at that time. Potentially you can renew contract for 1 year ... IF vonage still offers that plan and you want to renew. Otherwise you are charged a $25 activation fee and have to pick of the plans offered at that time. $10/mo w/1yr contract may or may not be available.

and #2 remark is:
²Shipping and/or activation fees may be waived with 1-year agreement. An Early Termination Fee (with periodic pro-rated reductions) applies if service is terminated before the end of the first 12 months. Additional restrictions may apply. See Terms of Service for details.

It continues at $9.99 a month, I would presume that it would also go month to month at month 13
they told me at month 13 not month to month but need a new plan, including a 1yr renewal of this 9.99 plan IF they choose to offer it still

I actually went on the $7.99 retention plan which includes 300 minutes to many countries, 300 long distance which works out at $12.50 a month, it all depends on what features you want
ditto the above, saw in your comment after I made my post

I called and I use my home phone very little. Mostly for emergencies and if too lazy to get cell phone. They offered me the US 300 plan which includes: unlimited incoming calls, unlimited outgoing vonage to vonage number calls, 300 outgoing US minutes per month, and 300 intl minutes per month. (US minutes are 3.9 cents per minute over 300.)

Price was 7.99 plus taxes/fees and NO CONTRACT.

Website offers a similiar for 11.99 only and for 5 cents per minute national outgoing calls over 300 min and no incl intl

Can you get a new number first and transfer your existing number to this plan couple months later? Or do you have to transfer the phone number when you signup?

Got the exact same deal today as a long-time customer. No contract, lifetime $9.99. Initial rep could only offer 12.50 for 6 months, but switched to cancel and got oversea reps who were more than happy to offer $9.99 for life. Thanks OP!

Looks very interesting. We currently have T-Mobile @Home service for $10, but are always concerned it will be canceled since they no longer offer it.

I had t mobile at home and loved it.Dumped them as a cell provider so I couldn't keep them. Net talk is the WORST and so not worth it.
Started with Vonage and went to at home since it was cheaper. Now back to Vonage...For the amount of aggravation net talk gives I would rather throw it in the garbage than deal with them
