TU on the price. I originally wanted the K-5, but I'm leaning towards the K-30 bundle deal at Costco. I guess I could buy the K-30 now and return it within the 90 days Costco return period if the new model that replaces the K-5 looks worth the extra $$$. I do like the K-5 though, so I need to give this more thought. Lol.

K-3 is probably going to be around $2500 (body only) and won't be available until at least 2013.

i feel like pentax is sometimes under rated in a canon / nikon mass market world. the k5 is definitely a force to be reckoned with. with everything pentax packed in to the k5 its a camera that people can enjoy and advance in photography with for a long time.

Is this part of the rumor that was based on an April Fools Joke? Most of the rumors on the net regarding the k3 flow from this... I don't think there's any reliable info relating to that. And if Pentax were to release a full frame, they need to add quite a few lenses to their line up. I don't see that happening this year personally... Hope I'm wrong of course, but I don't think Pentax is in a position to make full frame viable. They need a few more solid years of growth by releasing excellent aps-c cameras first to grow their customer base. Fortunately starting with the Pentax k-x, and going on to the k-7, k-5, and k30, Pentax is on a roll lately. If they can keep this up, they might have a broad enough customer base where a sufficient # will want to upgrade to a Pentax full frame.

Anyways, we'll see...

It really is. Pentax's main problem is that they never produced DSLRs that were suitable for professional use, so they've never have been that brand to own. In the coming months photography enthusiasts are expecting to see that change as they release FF models.

Seems as though the K30 gets brought up as an alternative to the k5 pretty frequently when a good price on the k5 pops up. In a previous thread I listed some of the differences between the 2 models (I'm also adding some difference that I forgot to put in last time):

The k5 has a top lcd and a magnesium alloy body along with a higher frame rate and a larger buffer so more raw shots can be taken in a row before the camera starts to slow down. In addition, the k5 has more controls on the back like af selector switch, an af button and an ae-l button. The k30 is a newer generation than the k5 and does have better video controls as well as improved tracking focus. But Pentax has stated that the k30 will be in the middle of their aps-c dslr line up. A new flagship that will replace the k5 will be announced in a few months (as well as a model that is positioned lower than the k30).

Also, the k30 uses 12 bit processing vs the k5 which uses 14 bit processing. This should result in having higher dynamic range. Also, the k5 has a grip available while the k30 will not. The k5 also has a higher capacity battery than the k30. The k5 has an hdmi output where the k30 does not and the k5 has a external microphone where the k30 does not.

Hi Vagrant, Do you own a K-5?. If you do, please can you comment on K-5' s AF system.I was at Frys a couple of days ago and had a chance to test out a K-5. AF seemed to struggle in low light while Nikon and Canon have had no issue focusing on the same subject.
K-5 price is very tempting right now and I am considering to get one as K-5 has an excellent DR.
