If I get a dollar each time I see an argument between Mac vs PC on slickdeal, I would have got this for free. We buy Mac simply because we like the cool fancy design, the OSX and excellent customer service. Still not convinced??
So you say why buy a $1000 Mac while you can get the same specs for $400 PC?? RESELL VALUE!! a Mac after 4 years usage can be easily sell for 60% back if you keep it in good condition while a PC after 4 years is pretty worthless, no one wanna buy that shit!! For $1000 I spend on a Macbook pro today, I can get $600 back in 4 years so the cost is $400 which is the same as a PC. For the same amount of money paid for usage, why do I have to settle for less, for a crappy looking, cheap ugly POS plastic PC? While I can a fancy laptop that looks good and feel good to use plus excellent customer support?? I like to have a new laptop every year or two, so a Mac is perfect because I know I can resell it easily anytime. In the end, it's our money. We can do whatever the F we want with it so stop thread crapping every single time!! If you hate Mac, why the F you have to click on the thread anyway? I'm not familiar with Makai, but I do own some Makita tools and I used Snap-On tools to make my living for over 20 years. If Sears sold Snap-On for half the price, I wouldn't have bought anything off the Snap-On truck that came around every week. But they sell Craftsman so your tool analogy doesn't really apply to this discussion. Thank you for your input and the name-calling. |

Anyway, Im really unsure why you act as if you're being attacked all the time because I really dont think anyone cares about the product choices of strangers as much as you do. Its just not that big a deal if someone prefers Mac or Windows anymore. |

I really don't give two shits what other people spend their money on. I'm trying to figure out what would make ME want to buy a Mac and these are the arguments I get. Now do you understand what I mean by not getting a straight answer? There was a lot of thought put into these responses, but nothing constructive. I mentioned the old computers I own because I always hear about the mystical "build quality" of a Mac. My 7 year old Dell is still going strong on ORIGINAL parts so that argument isn't valid. I'm sure Apple Care is wonderful but it sounds like people buy that because they KNOW they will have to use it. Not a good selling point for what I already perceive to be an overpriced computer. Thank you all for your comments. |

At the end of the day, the only reason anyone buys a Mac is the OS. If you don't need/want OSX, you don't want/need a Mac. Now, if we were still talking RISC Power PC Macs vs CISC Intel Wintel PCs --entirely different story. RISC > CISC. |

I find people have the exact same dilemma with Porsches. They're not the most reliable (neither are Macs - I believe Asus finished first) nor are they the fastest. For the same you'd spend on a Cayman, you can get an equally fast 370Z. Some people who'd buy the Z think it's silly to spend that much money on the Porsche. Others who buy the Porsche wouldn't consider a Z because they're not in the same league. In both cases, I think you get additional refinement and a better experience for your money. Whether that's worth it is entirely up to you! Good thing we have many different choices in the marketplace

![]() And why haven't you used Google yet to find the answers to your questions?? Why haven't you visited an Apple store or a Best Buy and tried the product out? Instead you are here telling us all how shtty the Mac is and asking us, "why in the world would "I" want a shtty Mac?" And then you wonder why you dont get a straight answer. ![]() No one cares except that they could do without the thread spam. Last edited by trip1eX; 08-08-2012 at 06:15 AM.. |
