This is a great router. Incredible price and you can add two external antennas to this unit.

They are available on ebay: 7dBi Mod Kit for Belkin F7D8301. Cool.

Make it rock solid tomato router following instruction Below:

I Follow the steps below:

First download the DD-WRT and Tomato firmware

1. install dd-wrt
  • Open browser at 192.168.2.1 and flash the firmware from belkin gui.
  • Log in the Belkin GUI use Original username and passward from sticker on the Router.
  • Once update finish wait for 5 minutes and then without doing any power off or restart do 30/30/30 reset .
  • Now your DD-WRT Mini will be ready to install tomato so you need to log in with browser 192.168.1.1 not belkin 192.168.2.1.
  • Now update firmware in DD-WRT Mini with the tomato firm ware.
  • It is most important perform 30/30/30 reset once again after flashing Tomato firm ware. other wise some time 2.4 Radio will not work.

You can also add two external antennas to this unit; available on ebay.

I was under the impression that when you installed the DD-WRT firmware you couldn't access the 5 GHz Band; not sure whether this is true or not.

Those are directional antenna not range extenders right?

this thing seems to go on sale everyday, but i might jump on it at last. are there any cheap 5GHz wireless adapters? i see a lot of hype for 5GHz, but things like the PS3 still only support 2.4GHz G connection. Not sure if I should spend the extra for dual band when only my laptop would be able to connect to it and i'd need a usb adapter

Um, the mod just adds external antenas. Range extenders are kinda like additional wireless routers that connect to your initial router and broadcast the signal in a different location to extend the radius of your wireless network.

Anyway I don't know why all routers don't have external antenas("cool" factor?). It just seems to make sense to keep the antenas as far away from the electronics as possible.

1saleaday is either pulling off a huge scam before fleeing the country or they have way too many of these.

Most likely that Belkin has a new model coming out which would make this router two generations old.

Is this as feature-rich as the e3000?
