CDP code - 260 (*code varies depending on state [hertz.com])
PC code - 170273 ($5 off per day, up to $35)
(please look at image attachment below if you're unsure of where to put the codes)

I tried looking at Hotwire/Priceline, but these Hertz codes were the lowest I got. The CDP code gives you the discounted base rate, the PC code gives you an additional $5 off per day up to $35, which will show up when you return the car.

*A note about the CDP - this is a AAA discount. Even though I've been a AAA member, I have NEVER been asked to show my AAA card at Hertz, and the discounts are always applied. For example, I used CDP# 5, along with a PC# on a 5-day Hertz rental (midsize/intermediate) last July - I only paid $62 for everything in the end. The CDP# 5 discount showed as AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah, and even though I'm from Washington state, I used it anyway because those were the codes that I found here on SD. On the Hertz website, I recently found the AAA codes for the different states - click here [hertz.com]. I used the different CDP codes in tandem with the PC#170273, and it comes up with the same discount.

Also, you get a better deal if you choose a rental location that is not at the airport or hotel, since they do add an extra fee ($30-$45ymmv) for airports and hotels. And, since I have car insurance and I use my VISA to pay for the rental, I always refuse the LDW (Loss Damage Waiver).

If you aren't wedded to Hertz, try National. With an Emerald Club code (check Flyertalk) and a $35 off coupon (I think Mousesavers had it), I got way better rates for a week rental of a minivan in September ($306 vs. $414).

Would you please share the Emerald Club codes?
With Hertz, I'm getting $236 (with taxes & fees included) for a midsize car for 11 days, plus $35 off upon return of rental car ($201 total in the end with discounts, taxes, fees).

carrentalsavers.com

edit: Also, the comment about airport versus standalone location is not always accurate.

In Dallas I was able to rent a car for half the price at the airport versus non-airport locations. In Orlando I found that it made no difference between airport and non-airport, rates were the same either way.

I've plugged in my dates and codes on carrentalsavers.com before and then just now, with the same p/u location and same codes --- hertz.com comes out cheaper.

Airport vs. non-airport locations, sometimes the rate comes out the same, but on the invoice, they tack on an airport/hotel concession fee. In previous rentals, I have used codes for Avis that takes out the airport fee.

On Hertz, I get the following for a midsize / 11-day rental:

SEA-TAC AIRPORT
1 week at 191.47 USD 191.47 USD
4 extra days at 27.35 USD 109.40 USD
Airport concession fee recovery 30.31 USD
Customer Facility Charge: 66.00 USD

DES MOINES HLE (Close to Sea-Tac Airport)
1 week at 199.80 USD 199.80 USD
4 extra days at 28.53 USD 114.12 USD
AIRPORT CONCESSION RECOVERY 31.69 USD

SEA-TAC MARRIOTT
1 week at 175.44 USD 175.44 USD
4 extra days at 25.06 USD 100.24 USD
Hotel Concession Fee Recovery 31.75 USD

Huddlesons Auto Color (non-airport location)
Address: 1500 South West 107th Street
Seattle (Seattle), Washington
1 week at 144.00 USD 144.00 USD
4 extra days at 20.57 USD 82.28 USD
(No Airport/Hotel Concession Fee)

I reserved the one from the non-airport location.

I'm a Costco member, and with my dates on a midsize on Alamo, it comes out $411.48. I will go wherever it's cheaper, and for the September dates, Hertz seems cheaper using the listed codes.

I used one of the codes in these threads (I think KLM), but I haven't tried to rent the van yet and can't make any representations as to whether they work for the general public.

i've found going directly through aaa's website, and entering the provided codes they have (in conjunction with the % discount they give) provides better rates.

Saved me ~$14 on a 2 day rental, thanks OP thumbs up & repped Smilie

Note: I have a AAA discount I usually used, compared my discount to this and it was better. Hope that saves some people some time comparing/contrasting Wink
