Please look up CoPilot online. I purchased one of their original versions for $9.99. After 6 months or so they cancelled it and renamed it a new one with "updates" for more money. It was exactly the same app in the new one, but they charged money for some of the features available in the first one.

Sale extended to 27 Aug 2012.

App is ok, but search sucks ... voice volume can be controlled in app. If you have Android 2.3 .. try SVOX TTS, voice is much better than Android tts (cost $3, but it has 2 weeks trial so you can choose multiple voices and see which suits you). ICS, the TTS voice is much better, so I don't think you will need SVOX.

+ I think older app are getting free upgrade, so if you have older version, you can try and check if you are getting the newer version.

It's a decent app with TTS, can download and store maps from the states you use often, though at times it would route me inefficiently or through back streets. Google Nav is much better if you can use the data.

thanks for the recommendations. i just added mapdroyd and osmand to my phone for the approaching day when i upgrade to a new phone and my wife uses this one for music, GPS, games, camera, etc (with no voice/data plan).

those two apps seem euro-centric, but hopefully they work in the US. navit had poor reviews.

Last time they had 50% discount was in Jan 2012. This time the discounts are lower. They have also removed the NA version (with US + Can ) maps from the Android market. Not sure why.

Yeah, but it still needs a data connection for navigation. Their offline map function is decent, but very slow to download, and you have to select portions 50MB at a time
