Doh! I forgot to use the $50 off $250 Amex/Twitter deal at the time of booking, so I tweeted it shortly after making the purchase.

Anyway, I sent a message to customer service to see if they could honor the deal, using the customer service link on their site.

however, I realized that this was the foursquare CS link not the twitter one, so I sent out another message using the correct twitter link.

Result:
The first CSR honored the request with this reply:

Quote : I have processed the credit in the amount of $50.00 to your Card ending in xxx. Please allow 5 business days for the credit to reflect on your account.

The second CSR denied the request with this reply:

Quote : I'm sorry, but we would not be able to change the terms of the promotion for you; you needed to tweet the offer to enroll and then make an eligible charge.

Lesson learned - if at first you don't succeed, try try again!
