I just went though this myself. Sadly, all of the necessary settings are in the Synaptic Device Settings in Mouse Properties. From there you can tune the pad to ignore anything the size of your palm or anything softer than a finger tap.
Try to clear out the driver and see if Synaptics works. |

That's what I would do too. I'd search for a Synaptics driver until I found one, assuming it exists. |

I find it impossible to believe that the people who put this laptop together did not think that this was a problem. Lazy or moronic bastards just shipped it anyways.

Nope, this was with a Sager laptop. I had a nasty habit of resting my left palm on the edge of the pad while trying to move things with my left. Was a few days of thinking I had some kind of mouse malware before I found that setting. |
