Ray-Ban Aviator Large Metal Sunglasses from 55mm - 58mm (Gold, Gray or Black) $69, FS

I take it these are not made in Italy anymore? For people who will start screaming so what, wait until you get yours you see made in china and check them after 2-3 months!

I do not buy anything other than Oakley due to the build quality and weight.
Bought some Revos and they were so much heavier (actually started hurting).
Most other higher end sunglasses have noticeably more weight than Oakleys...
I also read Ray-Bans are heavier too.
Shame, because I am looking for a pair of aviators at this moment.

I bought a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers from Ebay. Price was around $80. The seller had THOUSANDS of 100% positive feedback; with most saying similar things, "real deal... legit... great price... etc".

I then researched "FAKE RAY BAN" on Google, and spent quite awhile reading web pages, and watching YouTube videos on how to spot knockoff/fake Ray Ban sunglasses.

I looked at the Ebay seller's pictures carefully, and everything appeared legit, so I purchased the Wayfarers. I received them, and carefully inspected them and everything appeared legit. I even went to Sunglass Hut in the mall (a known retailer for Ray Ban) and compared my Ebay purchase with the real thing; again everything appeared legit.

Six months later the sunglasses fell off my head and a lens shattered. Ray Ban offers a one year warranty so I sent the sunglasses to their warranty dept in GA. They returned the broken sunglasses to me along with a letter stating, "There are no markings on the item you sent us that are consistent with a product we manufacture, and therefore we cannot repair it."

Now I am telling you as an Ivy-league educated professional that I did my research, checked the product, the markings, even the packaging and inserts; yet Luxxotica was saying these were fakes!

I don't know if they called them fakes just because they were sold through an Ebay retailer at a steep discount, or if they really were fake. Maybe the retailer is buying real Ray Ban frames, and putting cheap glass lenses in them and selling them as real, I don't know.

I contacted the Ebay seller and told him about the issue, and of course he denied any knowledge of a fake product HOWEVER, he refunded my money via PayPal in less than an hour after receiving my email and only asked that I return the sunglasses to him.

So the bottom line here is the old axiom: If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. I won't buy Ray Bans from ANY Ebay retailer.
