Boy, they must be desperate for subscribers. Wish they would just make everything free up til the latest expansion. I dropped out in 2010 and haven't been back but son still plays. There are several good free alternatives these days so not sure how much longer they can get away with charging for the software, plus $15/month to play. I do occasionally miss playing, but not enough to fork over $15 each month, plus it was a huge time sink. Guess this is a good deal for anyone who hasn't tried it yet; it really is a fun game but the glory days are sort of behind us now.

In any case... I've heard of people watching television for 4+ hours a day for YEARS, doing what!? Everyone has a hobby.. it is not for us to understand what does it for the next person.. as long as it is legal and healthy, no? That is, they are still maintaining their responsibilities in life and not harming anyone. Not going to understand this if you are not in a position to understand this.. That said, for years I did just that.. and I enjoyed my time in game. In that time I saved A LOT of money and was rather occupied/focused/entertained.. $15 a month for entertainment is cheap. Even if you rent 1 redbox movie a day for a month, you're paying almost double each month for a roughly even level of throw-away entertainment. I've met (outside of the game) friends from the game as well as got a job interview setup through the game. As long as one stays away from trade chat and the guilds run by children and the super-hardcore raiders, there can be decent social aspect. Yes, its a timesink.. that part of the point. You're supposed to get involved in the game. Not obsessed, but involved. It isn't a pickup for 20 minutes style game. That isn't for many people.. and perhaps it shouldn't be. I know people who haven't played the game (console gamers) and are interested. I tell them, avoid it if you are competitive and don't want to spend hours in the game. For those interested.. this is a good price to get started in this online game.. |

This was a serious question. What do you do? Raids, make armor, mine for gold, farm, build a house, get married? I've played MMOs before, and there is only so much a game creator can do to keep the players occupied before it starts getting repetitive and lose its entertainment. While you could argue that someone playing this for 4+ hours a day for so many years is the same as someone watching TV every day for years, tell me, how many people watch the same show for hours a day for nearly 10 years? Most shows out there air for less than an hour and never survive past 4 seasons with some exceptions and even then they don't occupy a huge portion of someones life.
