I can't speak as to whether or not this was intended, but tethering is working on t-mobile supported phones as well as iphones. If you jumped on board with Solavei, update if it's working for you.

This looks a lot like how a pyramid scheme would function.

However their promo video did have heads from T-Mobile, Asurion, and the FCC on board, so I don't know what to think of it.

So, yeah, the article isn't too nice. Thing is though.. what have we really got to lose? Solavei is $6/month cheaper than what I'm currently paying with Cricket. I'm so mad at Cricket I can't wait to divorce them. There's no other jobs available in my area. I'll still be going to school and persuing my career. So it's like saving money on cell phone service.... telling everyone how much I like it (which I would do anyways)... and then getting paid when those people sign up. I do like to over-analyze things though, so if I'm missing something here - if there's something that might bite me on the ass, please feel free to point it out to me. I haven't signed up yet. Still waiting for my new debit card.

I have the service, I have a friend who tried it on an unlocked TMobile Comet. That's a 3G phone and a real dog, but it worked.

A cheap 3G/4G phone could be handy if you want a hotspot, use it as that and in a pinch it's also of course a telephone if you're breaks, etc.

I signed up because I have Tmob already but I'm going off contract with a Galaxy Nexus and for the income opportunity.

Look at it this way: if you get a 1099 from them you can probably deduct the service cost and phones you buy from your income taxes as business expenses.

So, what service is cheaper now once you include that in the bottom line? I just found a $385 deduction for my phone so I can demo it to customers and the signup/monthly fees.

Anyone think of that?

The other thing was the site was griping about the 5.6 million he got. If the market cap was 1.3 billion, he only got .4% (.004) of the market cap.

That doesn't sound like a whole heck of a lot for someone who founded the company. Quite the opposite, looks like he lost a hell of a lot of money when the stock tanked by his and the other site's figures.

Just sayin'.

Update: $56.31 with the taxes. You can thank the government for that. But that's Texas. My friend in NH paid just over $53. "Everything's bigger in Texas" he says. Ha Ha. Oregon pays no taxes as posted in another thread.

The federal tax is paid by the company, but you have to pay the state taxes.

I will say that they still have a few more features than the other guys like:

4gig soft cap at 4G speeds vs. 100Megs Like the $50 Tmob plan.
Roaming inside U.S. (AT&T for sure, US Cellular reported)
International texts work
"unlimited incoming and outgoing text, picture and video messages to any domestic or international mobile number while inside the U.S."

May or may not apply to Straight Talk/SimpleMobile/etc:
You get the same level of service as T-Mobile Customers. There is no difference. Meaning no throttling, priority, etc diff.

used 7 gb in 20 days still 4g speeds...i have reffered 7 ppl for now so my bill become $90 for three phones with unlimited everythin plus i got 2 months free of service for mine line+150 one time bonus.
till december 1 you get month free of service ($49)subscription still applys and no fee for sim

I am not sure what conditional call forwarding is but you could always use google voice to forward calls to another number. I have the service too and so far so good, I have not referred anyone yet but I am working on it. Despite the background (alleged or otherwise) the website is fantastic as far as all the informational tools they give you regarding sharing the service. And it really does have a community feel to it. As far as the deal aspect of it, if you only refer 3 people you are getting it for $29 per month which is a pretty good deal right there plus even better if they refer people too. I know this comment is about two months late, but be aware that if you subscribe to Solavei and bring your own phone, which has to be an unlocked GSM phone, there may be serious data performance issues. Because Solavei works on T-Mobile infrastructure, an iPhone is unacceptably slow, especially for data which is beyond horrible on my unlocked GSM iPhone 4. There is a list of approved phones but it is hard to find in the support documentation, and the marketing oriented website would give you the impression that a GSM iPhone would work fine until you buy into Solavei and see the list of approved phones in the support documentation, which is in the link below, and be sure to carefully read the entire document at they are sugar-coating even their iPhone usability explanation: https://support.solavei.com/docs/DOC-1258

My iPhone 4 does work on Solavei for voice and text, but it is hopelessly slow (2G/Edge) for data. I do think Solavei is a good deal for $49/mo. all unlimited cell phone service, but you are going to need to buy one of the phones from their approved list of Android smart phones or you are going to be very disappointed.

I am looking for a Slick Deal on one of these Android smart phones right now and that's how I found this thread. Hopefully it helps one of you from getting snookered with Solavei and your unlocked iPhone.
