Every time a Celeron deal shows up we get a thread crapping post like the one above.
Intel should rename the entire line or Celerons/Pentiums to something like Core i1 or just Core to jump start the brains of people still living in the 90s.

You should just give up to avoid humiliating yourself any further. A few years ago this would have been top tier performance, suddenly it's unable to perform any task because there's something that goes faster? Riiiiight...

What the hell are you doing with your computer that you can't do much with a processor that has a 2,300 passmark score?!?!

I work every day and run a VM on a machine that has a C2D E6400 with a 1,273 passmark score!

I have an HTPC with an Athlon II X2 with 1,705 passmark score and it feels very quick and plays every video I've ever thrown at it. My wife has an HTPC with a Sempron 140 with a 725 passmark score that works just fine as an OTA HDTV DVR running Win7 x64 Ultimate Media Center.

This CPU would make for a really awesome HTPC and would be more than enough power for someone who isn't into gaming. Although I'm sure it's probably not even that bad at gaming if you have a good enough video card.

Not at all what I said, but nice try. A few years ago is useless for something that was produced quarter 3 of last year by the way. And also, a few years ago I got my i7 860. So again you're wrong, because a few years ago THAT wasn't even the top tier.

That said, I wouldn't even give one of these to my worst enemy. That would just be wrong.

I mainly directed that point at the everyday PC usage. I can see it working for a computer that's never really being interacted with, but if you consider your "standard" user that installs 917235125 toolbars and every other useless application you can imagine (from installers hidden check boxes of course) this thing would bog down pretty bad pretty damn quickly. I hooked my dad up with an i5 2500k, and even with all the extra crap you don't even notice. And hell that machine only dropped me about $320.
