I owned a Celeron and I have to say, back in the beforetime they were a great alternative to the P4 chips for people on a budget (super easy to get 50%+ overclock), later they became a bit of a joke. Now the IIRC Celeron is a completely different architecture so none of that is particularly relevant. |

Let alone This Celeron is on 1155 socket, and there are a ton of upgrade options for it if you get a Z68 or higher board. Last edited by krazyxazn; 08-06-2012 at 11:32 AM.. |

Yes, Core I5/I7 is overkill. My Dell XPS w/ Core I7 & GT 540M has never played a game. The only reason I got it for was the 1080P RGBLED screen.
This is a good processor for 90% of the population but I never would get it because its TDP is 65W. Ridiculously inefficient. My Core I5 3470T runs at 35W and I'm trying to get a Core I7 3770T that also 35W and has HD4000. I like low power systems w/ SSD and slim optical drive w/ 100W power supply |

http://snag.gy/DAo9b.jpg http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/...html#sect0 If you read the whole article, you can see the G540 competes fairly well against the G620 - and I would say it's a very power efficient CPU. Last edited by snowboarder33; 08-06-2012 at 11:47 AM.. |

Their customer service is awful... I requested an RMA but they never authorized it....... You have to pay for return shipping even if the product is DOA
1. for decoding, most modern cpus can software decode most videos... faster makes no difference to users 2. TDP is not power consumption... and if TDP is measured with different methods, it's pointless to compare TDPs... 3. IMO in the past few years cpu and gpu are kinda on the same boat... not that much advance in low end products... Last edited by realdreams; 08-06-2012 at 11:58 AM.. |

I'm not giving this a thumbs up, since it's been at this price for a while now (got mine from Microcenter for $35 + tax), but it's a great processor for most anything you're doing. |

In case anyone was misled, this is a great entry level cpu, the onboard intel HD video it will decode absolutely every video type you could throw at it without any problems, and for anything needing software decode, this cpu is more than adequate to handle the task. Oh and windows home server is also perfectly fine for its suited uses. We also get 'fringe benefits', not french benefits, its the leaning tower of pisa, not pizza, Steely Dan is not some guys name, and James Dean was an actor....Jimmy Dean makes sausages. Did I miss anything?
