Guys just a heads up. I applied for the personal back on 8/8, received the 10k for 1st purchase on 8/22 (fast turnaround). I hit the 5k spend earlier in the month but didnt see the points (add 20k). Called AMEX today and they said there was no promo when I signed up beyond the 10k, even though I used the link from this thread and even refered my wife through this promo and saved the referal email saying 30k after 5k spend. Argued for about 20 minutes with a manager and they fixed it.

My advice is not to wait until you hit 5k and then look for the add points, call asap and reconfirm your promo JUST to be on the safe side.

I reposted minus the referal link as its frowned upon, though it wasnt my intention to benefit from the referal as the 30k promo has ended I felt it would be irrelevant.

just making sure... points earned stay with the SPG account, so at then end of 12 months if I cancel the card, I keep all the points earned right?

No. they will send FBI agents and knock down your door and take away your points.

Seriously once you fulfill your requirements the points are yours to keep. You can close the next day if you want to.
