I haven't seen a JVC TV in store or passed through one online since flat panels came out. I was going to come in here and discourage people from purchasing because this may be JVC's beta test on making TVs, but I changed my mind.
JVC isn't some fly by night manufacturer that can dissolve if they make a line of crappy products. I'd give them a chance here if you were looking for an inexpensive 3D TV. They'll probably do the Vizio approach by pricing their TVs low until they establish themselves, then start charging slightly below Samsung and Sonys. Vizio was the #1 selling LCD TV at one point I believe. I've got respect for JVC. I bought a refurb receiver from then about 14 years ago, and it still worked until I sold it last month. It is pretty much the only refurbished thing I had ever had luck with. You can swear by your refurbished stuff all you want, but I have first-hand experience, and would NEVER buy anything refurbished.
Why do you think refurbished stuff is so cheap? The manufacturer gets defective products returned and unload them to 3rd party vendors cheap who try to entice you at 20% discount off retail. |

You cannot compare a JVC television, or any other JVC product, that you bought years ago to these new tv's. JVC does not make these tv's. As pointed out by several other posters, the JVC name is licensed to another manufacturer, JVC has nothing to do with producing them. It's just like every Proscan deal that is posted, people say that they are a high end RCA's when in fact RCA sold off the name to another company and has nothing to do with it anymore.

Black Crystal is their low end. Black Sapphire will be their "Japanese" quality.
The only thing I can say is that LCD tech is now "eh" technology. Everyone has it and everyone can make it. It's the internal parts and features that make a difference. This is a low end product with a Japanese name. Take it from there. |

slickdeals has two effects on my life
first it helps me afford cool gadgets and household appliances, items or clothing that i probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to buy otherwise second it helps me see how much money i could have saved if i had waited 6-12 months to buy a certain piece of technology lol |
