![]() I've seen this deal posted numerous times over the last year (when I started paying attenuation to them because I bought a house), and I'm always baffled why it usually gets a few thumbs up. Why anyone would pay $10 for a pair of anvil loppers, when you could get -- even from sears, even with the craftsman name, even at regular price -- a pair of bypass loppers for only a few bucks more. To start with, you should never use anvil loppers on a live plant. That alone greatly reduces their usefulness to a typical homeowner. There is a (very small) space of usefulness for anvil loppers, but it never makes sense to own an anvil set without also owning a bypass unit, and for 99% of the world, the bypass alone can do 80% of the pruning you need to do, and for the other 20% it can't because it's too thick, you're gonna need a saw to do 15% of it anyway, so just use that for the other 5% too! Only makes sense to me to invest the money and storage space for these if have these if you have a big property and spend a lot of time cutting up dead wood of all sizes, that you would use them enough. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-by...ockType=G5 I'm not saying those are a quality pair (and I'm not saying they aren't either), just making the observation. they are 5 star, but only one review so it's relatively meaningless, statistically. |
