It's great to see so much interest in tools for frequent flyers and reward users!

We've come out with a ton of new stuff recently, so I just wanted to address some things brought up in the thread.

Expiration Alerts
We do support expiration alerts for all of our 500+ programs. You can even configure how far in advance you want to receive them. And we'll give you tips on the cheapest ways to prevent expiration.

Account Data
It's true we integrate with a 3rd party to pull some account information. That 3rd party is actually AwardWallet -- which is why we support pretty much every reward program, and all the fun extra account details they do (like progress toward status and such). We even have a one click import to pull all your AwardWallet info into MileWise, so it's super quick to get started.

Our big thing is actual real time award flight search.

We're really focused on being an awesome travel search engine, so we do a ton of hard work to find the best prices we can, including checking partner inventory, integrating transfer rules between programs, and factoring in taxes and fees based on the route and your frequent flyer status.

We also recently released an explore feature that finds great deals to interesting destinations based on your reward program balances, and we'll be releasing a bunch of improvements to that shortly too.

And of course if you're the kind of person who likes to really dig into the gritty details, you can configure all our mile and point valuations by hand and really customize MileWise to fit you.

surprised that usingmiles don't have American Airlines as one of the programs! but they do have almost all other airline/hotels.

Since you did, after all, competitively enter into this discussion about UsingMiles.com, you deserve assessment; and it doesn't look good. As a New York startup, you've definitely focused on style, but the substance isn't there. The only feature that genuinely distinguishes your site from AwardWallet.com (from which I imported all my data) is the possibility to search using miles. Fare search is an area so well saturated, with so many players far far superior to you, it's not even worth trying.

And there, your reward miles-based search only includes one or two airlines, and hangs without reaching any results. Anywise, the whole point of a search like this is to compare between all providers. Anything less might as well not exist.

You might need a head-count to get you through this launch period for your startup, just to show interest and justify the seed money, but ultimately your site -- at a 5% operational status -- doesn't do anything that consumers actually want.

That's the truth. Now go make it work -- or better yet, take it offline, and tell us when it's ready.

NYC startups are more concerned with responding to any online chatter of their own name than actually delivering a product that people can use. The legacy of being a marketing/services mecca instead of a product-oriented environment. Marketing gone awry.

At least Krista stuck to the point, in a thread of her company, and is actually responding to questions, rather than pitching her company.

That being said, i'm impressed with the knowledge of startups by SDers !! Kudos to you

So true about NYC startups. Even after all these years, Vimeo (for example) is slacker hell with tons of bugs and cheery/brand-y/hipster customer support with no actual support.
