is this really better than this (other than taste in design)

The reds are extremely smooth to press and don't give much of a tactile feel. The blacks I heard would be the same, but with even more resistance. Honestly, unless you are getting one with tactile feedback like the Blue/Brown, I think lighter is better. The reds are still quite noisy when bottoming out and I think I may need to get o-rings to quiet it down somewhat. The major thing I like on the Corsair is the finish on the keys. The K60 comes with grippy caps for WASD and 1-6, but the regular key finish feels smooth and really nice to touch. Also 'cleaning' the Corsair is much, much easier because of its design. I like it a lot, and honestly, although I sort of wish the ESC key at least was mechanical too, I've gotten over that. I got the K90 for $80 AR when it was on sale a few weeks back. The Corsair keyboards feel like a solid piece of metal, and are HEAVY. You are definitely getting your money's worth with them. If you get the chance though, get the K90 -- for $10 more, the extra features it has are definitely worth it, even if you don't use them a lot. |

Decent deal by the OP, but tax kills it for me Hopefully Amazon will have a similar deal soon.

I own this keyboard and it is my favorite by far. Cherry reds are simply the best in my opinion for gaming. I also own the Rosewill RK-9000brown and a good friend of mine let me try is razer blackwidow ultimate. K60 bests them both. I once tried an mx black keyboard in a Fry's b&m and didn't like it at all but I spent all of 5 minutes with it.
People with thumb down this thread because the F keys and the delete keys are rubber dome. Those people are just angry trolls. How often during a game do you use the F keys and how would a dome delete key slow down your typing speed? Great rebate Companies:

Well, most reviews highlight a good build quality with the keyboard. The downer like mentioned above is the function keys being non mechanical but not sure if that is a big problem as they are used not that often.
Moreover unlike most mechanical keyboards, you get dedicated media keys here. |

I actually prefer the rubber domed F keys on this keyboard. The thing about these mechanical switches is they are easy to depress and register a keystroke. Having these other F keys with more resistance (rubber domes) means less accidental bumping of the keys during gaming, etc. Bought this keyboard a few months ago and I'm very happy with it.
ps - I really like your Chrono Trigger avatar. |

And I have 2 of the Black Widow, one ultimate and one base model. What's the difference you tell between the reds and the blues? I love the feel of the blue switches, but I've never tried those so I can't really compare. Last edited by Zephon13; 08-09-2012 at 09:28 AM.. |

I was about to bite on this, but I read that the K60 has a sticky key repeating problem. Basically, once a key is pressed down, it repeatedly registers until it is pressed down again. Problem can be seen here: http://forum.corsair.com/v2/showt...p?t=103210

Owner of the K60 for a month now. Should also note that the 9 function keys above the arrowkeys (Print Screen, Insert, Delete, Home, End, PgUp etc) are rubber domed as well as the Esc, F1, F2 row. You do notice from switching from one to the other, but I don't use these keys heavily. I believe this is the same for both the K60 & K90.
A stuck key seems to show up infrequently, but it is very annoying. Often with Shift or Spacebar and have only noticed it doing moderate typing. From the corsair forum, this seems to happen on both the K60/K90. It appears that the K90 got patched and K60 is still pending. Paid $85 and I did not send in my rebate from Newegg, but I will put in a ticket with Corsair to see what can be done. It is a well built (braided cable, aluminum surface, solid/heavy feel, volume controls) and decently priced Cherry Red full sized keyboard. I just hope they figure out the sticky key issue.
