Good for people with smb/linux experience.

Strange...this is the second item I checked today from NE that at first did not show a quantity nor had an add to cart button.

This time I did notice it had a space asking to input eBlast email id. After refreshing (without entering anything) it reverted to a normal looking page with quantity and button.

No. The current technology uses WebDAV to provide a remote connection to your My Book Live, and WebDAV does not support media streaming across the remote connection.

I have no trouble watching my movies over wireless network from this device via Samba/Windows File Sharing. Share any drive on any system on your lan and try to watch a movie from it on your laptop. If it works, you can expect it to work the same from your My Book.

I can also stream movies from my PC to my Tab or android phone using only ES file explorer (as long as all devices are in the same wireless network.) I was trying to do so when I am away from home.

If you have enough upload bandwidth you can, but I'm not personally aware of a very simple and reliable way to do it.

I am sure the government has a hand in it at some point in time. Currently the largest "user" of cloud information is Acxiom They have the ability (and use it) to access "cloud" files and databases on American citizens. User passwords means nothing to them. Your only defense at this point in time is to encrypt your files and not use cloud services. Also make sure you go thru a proxy server so your IP address won't be tied to you personally. Otherwise you are being tracked 24/7 thru your IP protocols. FYI.
