This is one of the best, if not the best, credit cards for airline ticket rewards (that's not linked to a major FF program -- which have significantly different award structures). If you're not interested in free airline travel, this card is probably not for you.

* if you link this card to a U.S. Bank checking account, you'll earn 1.25 points per dollar spent (it's called the "Gold Package," and there's no fee if you set your credit card to autopay, among other options).

* when you reach 20,000 points, you can redeem them for any ticket up to $400 in value (each additionaly 10,000 points results in an additional $200 in value; e.g. 30,000 points is required for a ticket from $400.01-$600). Each ticket comes with a $25 "airline allowance" -- charge your bag fees, meal/beverage/entertainment fees, etc. to your card, call up and you'll receive a credit. NOTE: The ticket search engine is powered by Travelocity, so chances are whatever prices/availability Travelocity is displaying is what you'll encounter.

* there's several bonus point opportunities every year... several hundred miles for quick surveys, several thousand when you spend a certain amount, etc. I was recently mailed an offer for 4,000 points for using a "credit card check" with no transaction fees and 0% for 60 days (hey, free points...)

* there's several event opportunities each year. Since this credit card is the former Northwest Airlines credit card (Northwest was bought by Delta, which dumped this credit card in favor of American Express), most of these events are concentrated in Minneapolis & Detroit (former home of Northwest's biggest hubs) with some Los Angeles. For example, I got 4 tickets, 4 sodas & 4 hot dogs/pizza slices to a Detroit Tigers game earlier this year for $20 (cheapest would be ~$50, and these were better seats).

Tried calling them, waste of time. Should have stayed away, jsut got approved for 20k Penfed 2 days after this application

Seems hard to get this card approved, not sure if I should try my luck.

it means you are approved & need to accept your approval, unless you'd rather decline free money.

they might not like all that available credit

OR

your utilization is either really high or really low

OR

you've got too many recent inquires (US Bank is VERY sensitive about them......if anything gets me dinged, it will be this.)

how many points its now at?

got rejected. i applied for 3-4 cards in the past few months. they cited that reason.

my fico is at 805. guess that didnt matter.
