Sure, there's a lot of deals listed and I don't know a lot about TV's, but I have heard Samsung has good panels and products.
I was on the fence about the $300 TCL since they're supposed to have Samsung panels. I stopped in at a local video store that actually had a TCL on display and I personally felt it wasn't as nice looking or had the same build quality as a Samsung or Toshiba and to me the colors looked washed out. Sears has a similar Toshiba $379 for the same price that looked pretty good in the showroom. It was 2nd runner up. When the deal was listed I thought this is the one. I bought it and the guy from Sears loaded it in my car the next day pretty quickly. They have some, "get it loaded in the car in 5 mins or get a $5 off coupon" I just wanted it loaded safely in the car. Funny how the old brand names are around, but don't have the same quality they once did/are made by other companies: Magnovox and JVC come to mind. Sceptre seems like just an ok tv as does Proscan. Almost went the refurb route, but for $80 or $100 more you get brand new. This is for my dad's bedroom. He's retired, and watches a lot of TV. At least I know Samsung looks aesthetically good and he won't look at it and go, "what the hell is a TCL?" It's all set up, dad's happy, to me the picture and sound is great. It's kind of funny in that his cable is Standard Def anyway so the HD 1080 thing doesn't mean much. I'm happy he's got a 40" to enjoy over the crappy 15" CRT he was watching. Maybe it's not a super slickdeal, but for me (and my dad) it's a perfect fit at $423. Seems like the prices are falling in that the price of a 37" was that much last month. A few weeks ago I also got a Samsung 2nd gen I3 laptop that I've really enjoyed from the Cowboom lapoff so maybe that influenced me too. Thanks Slickdeals and happy deal hunting.

How do you get 5% off using your Sears card? |

The Samsung LED TV's are super thin and the screens are beautiful. Still going to stay with the LCD I bought, it'll still work for dad. PLus, I'm so lazy about returning stuff and apparently there's a 15% restocking fee at Sears. Last edited by retrorandy; 08-11-2012 at 09:15 AM.. |

I should have been more specific, I can't guarantee, that it works with the store card only. The shop discover would give you a bigger discount in this case anyway. Sorry for any confusion. Last edited by RandomDealz; 08-11-2012 at 10:05 AM.. |

Only some of Samsung's backlit LED tv's are thin, their lower end LEDs are about as thick as traditional LCD tvs |
