Might be a little off topic but is there a way to connect two routers into one cable modem. In other words, is there such a thing as a splitter to split one ethernet plug into two?
I was thinking of getting this router for the dual ssid but maybe I can save some money and connect two routers that I have lying around, instead? thanks |

Just my two cents: I bought this router about a month ago and decided to try the stock firmware first. Wired connections worked fine, but the wireless signal kept cutting out and dropping the connections (tested on two laptops in the same room as the router).
Due to positive experiences with DD-WRT in the past I then flashed the DD-WRT big build and it worked okay for a couple days but then developed the same problems. So, I flashed the mini DD-WRT build and had the same results as with the big. And, yes, before anyone asks, I performed a 30-30-30 reset after each flash. I then found the thread here on SD suggesting Tomato (http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/7...600f7d8301) and decided to give it a shot, and it has been absolutely flawless since then. Wireless has been rock-solid for better than two weeks now, and hooking up a couple of USB drives worked with no problem (they kept cutting out in DD-WRT, but I didn't try them with stock). I'm new to Tomato, but it's awesome! The interface is a lot less complicated than DD-WRT (awesome for a networking novice), and most importantly, it's working great! Hopefully others having issues will have the same success with Shibby's Tomato build... Good luck! |

I bought this n600 router from the other SD deals awhile back. Installed dd-wrt mini, 30/30/30 reset, then shibby 97 tomato firmware, then 30/30/30 reset. My router has been used 24/7 for a little more than 2 weeks without any hiccups or needing to reboot. THis is a very solid router so far, and hopefully it is durable for at least a year.
YES, It is SIMULTANEOUS DUAL BAND. You guys gotto make sure that your client devices support 5Ghz. Most of my devices at home supports only 2.4ghz band except for my 3D Panasonic TV that supports 5Ghz. As far as wireless range, it is decent but not that great. I get one bar less than full for standing outside of my apartment, about 30ft away but through 3 walls (on 2.4ghz). I have 2 android phones, a TV, home theater system, a tablet, and occasionally a media player connected to the router. Last edited by mythek; 08-12-2012 at 10:29 AM..
