In texas, I got the U300+internet max and hd for $89, could not get the free wireless receiver though. The wireless receiver would be an extra $7.

Edit-I was already a customer.
How did you get this deal?

I have u200 and internet max and pay a lot more than $89.

Thanks.

Perhaps this was only 2 HD channels at a time? Doesn't the amount of HD you can watch/record depend on your distance from the nearest box?
Rarely the case. For the majority of customers it's 4HD streams. The rest it's typically 3. 2 is typically unheard of.

I signed up for something similar to this deal back in June (in an AT&T store, not through the OP). Halfway through my one-year contract term, AT&T is now charging me $10 more a month for a "HD Technology Fee" that supposedly is only free for the first six months. Never disclosed to me when I signed up. Dirty business practice. On the horn with customer service, but they don't want to budge.

I've had people have the same issue...what I have people do is get a $60 bill credit to cover the HD costs for the rest of the year.

I called them and asked them to match the promo and they said they could do better. It was about a 3 minute call. The only difference the wireless receiver was not included, it would have been $7 more or replace one of the 3 I already have.

What can everyone tell me about Uverse? Trying to get the mother-in-law to dump comcast. I was lucky enough to switch from comcast to Fios, but that is not an option where she lives.
I had looked at dumping Comcast after getting a sales pitch from Uverse. However after researching Uverse and comparing pricing and features that are of interest to me, plus chatting with Comcast for a few minutes, I was able to get a better price (12 month guarantee) through Comcast. While UVerse touts the ability to record 4 shows as once, this is limited to 3 HD and 1 SD. With Comcast I have 4 DVR's currently (3 Tivo's and 1 Comcast), so I can actually record 8 shows (all HD). I also have my Tivo's connected via Moca so I am able to view recordings from any TV in my house. And I could be wrong, but from what I read it appears that if you are recording 4 shows with UVerse you now have used all your video bandwidth and can't watch any other shows live.

I also found that the 12 and 18 mb UVerse uploads speeds had a limited of 1.5 for upload. Compared to Comcast I have 20mb for download and get 4 upload. UVerse offers the 24mb upload yet still is restricted to 3mb upload (and costs $10 more than 18mb). Advantage to Comcast on this as well.

The phone service that ATT quoted was for limited 250 calls/month, the unlimited was $10 more. Comcast offer unlimited, period.

I'm no expert on UVerse, but based on my initial research I didn't find it to be better than Comcast. Getting Comcast to now be slightly less than UVerse, plus not having to deal with the hassle of changing over my service, as well as losing my Comcast.net email I've had for years, well, it just wasn't convincing for me to change. For those who are just starting service and maybe don't have as significant as investment in their hardware would probably be happy with UVerse, but I just don't see if being for everyone. I do like having UVerse being offered as it's providing competition for Comcast and therefore making them price accordingly Smilie

You're exactly right. It isnt for everyone. However not everybody has the same luck with Comcast renegotiating their promotions and what not.

In the long run people tend to prefer fiber over cable, however not everybody enjoys the hassle of switching. If you can get Comcast to lower prices all the better. This thread is all about saving money. bounce

I've been a U-Verse customer for 4+ years. I have the cable/internet package - no phone service. I was paying $151 per month for U300 with HD, 4 receivers and the internet Max package. And that was with a couple of promotions. Called Retention Dept and spoke with a wonderful employee. Told her about the promo (the first one posted in this thread). She said she could beat that -- $106 per month to keep what I have. I had to commit to a one year contract with AT&T but that was not a big deal for me. I'm thrilled! I LOVE AT&T! They have the best customer service!

Thank you OP for posting this information. Saved me $45 per month! Yay!

I'm in Los Angeles - paying less than $100 a month for Dish Network and Cox Cable Internet. The trick is to call them and explain these promotions to them - ask them what they can offer so you don't switch.

Dish Network matched their introductory promo price for me.

Cox immediately offered a $15/month discount. Both come out to roughly $80. Smilie

I have heard online gaming is pretty bad with uverse, can anyone provide any input in regards to this? Specifically, I have read the ping is through the roof.

Curious about this as well. Can anyone post some ping response time they are getting.
for example... (this is not an AT&T result)

C:\>ping google.com

Pinging google.com [74.125.225.224] with 32 bytes of data:

Ping statistics for 74.125.225.224:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Personally I've played some online games (Companies based out of SoCal, where I am) and here in SoCal i get anywhere from 15-30 ping, where as when I go visit my family in the midwest its more around 75-100.

Hopefully I could get some help here with my Uverse bill as it's getting a bit out of control!!

Currently my services are:

- U200
- Max Internet (12 Mbps)

I get hit with a monthly bill of about $145 which I think is a bit rich considering I could get the following deal from Timewarner:

- HD TV (with the same or probably more channels than U200 - hard to tell as they don't make the comparison channel line ups easy to read at ATT)
- Standard Internet (15 Mbps - 3 Mbps faster than my current internet).

This deal is $103 - so $40 cheaper.

Now I barely watch TV - especially when football season is over. I'd most likely watch the Comedy Channel and a few others (ESPN etc), I also don't use DVR services etc (as Im not watching it live, I wont be recording it either!). I only watch HD channels too.

Anyway I can make my bill better? Would I be better off with U100? I can't tell what HD channels I'll get on U200 vs UFamily (or U100) as the ATT site just says "optional"....so they won't just give you a straight up comparison.

Cheers in advance.

I'd e-mail the social network team from AT&T, the e-mail address is somewhere in this thread. Typically for the U200 + max its about $100/month right now for new customers...you can also try your luck with the retention department, mention new customer pricing, what time warner is offering you, threaten to leave, etc. They will typically put it pretty close if not lower than what TW is offering.

Hope this helps!
