Hi guys,

I just found that Box.com let me download their free desktop sync app for windows 7 and I can able to sync files. Also, as you know, if you already activated your free 50 GB storage then I believe this is pretty exciting. I tried to find any post related to this or may be you guys already aware of this? Anyway let me know if it is only me seeing this offer.

To get the sync app, after login into Box.com (https://www.box.com/) go to "My Account" tab on the top and then select "Get BOX Sync". The app should be start downloading into your PC.

Here is what I am seeing in my free account.

Thanks.

There's a way everyone can sync files with windows explorer for free. I've been using it for some time now with my 50gb touchpad account.

1. Open My Computer

2. Right click on My Computer and select Add a Network Location

3. Click Next

4. Select Choose a custom network location and click Next

5. Enter “https://www.box.net/dav” into the box and click Next

6. Enter a name for the Box folder that will be created – maybe “Box”? – and click Next

7. Enter your Box username and password and click Next

8. Get ready to use your Box!
I'm getting an 'Access Denied' message... Anyone know why?

Open finder.
Select Go > Connect to Server (Command - K)
Enter “https://www.box.net/dav”
Enter your box username and password.
It lets me connect, and I can see the file names of everything in there, but I can't open anything or drop anything new into the folder. I get permissions errors.

Anyone else? Ideas?

Didn't have the Sync option, until I invited myself again (50Gbs). Then in that new account the Sync option came up.

Sweet - worked for me. Thanks OP! With this, Box is a worthy (better?) competitor to Dropbox. 50gbs of synced files to my computer? Yes.

If you get errors, try doing box.com/dav instead of box.net/dav. Sometimes that can fix the problem. Also, apparently a setting in Internet Explorer can mess it up. You might want to check this tutorial to verify your IE settings.

For those of you that can't get your 50gb accounts to work, and don't have access to another 50gb invite, use the link below for 25gb.

https://www.box.com/signup/o/hellosign_25

When I signed up for a new account, I had the sync option right away. Lets hope they add the sync to the rest of the 50gb accounts at some point.

Installed and tried to log in, but gives me "Box Sync is turned off for your account". So no go either (Touchpad free 50GB activated Sept 2011).

This worked, too bad it's only 25GB. I only need it for game saves though, so good enough. Repped!

BTW, anybody who already had a Box account but used gmail, can keep using gmail, just add a period in there, it'll still go to your same gmail address but Box considers it a different address.

So, "xyz@gmail.com" and "x.yz@gmail.com" both go to "xyz@gmail.com", but Box sees them as different accounts for purposes of signing up.

How do you invite yourself? I don't even see an option to invite.
