Need to buy a washer and dryer- Should I wait 'til Labor Day?

I am in the same boat. I just moved and if I wait until Labor day I am without any laundry until then. Also, I will be traveling out of town the holiday weekend too so if they won't take a phone order I would be out of luck.

There doesn't seem to be any good deals at this point at least on items that are rated high on Consumer Reports.

frys has an LG 4.7 washer for 800 and a 5.1 for 1250 both high efficiency washer but yea im searching for a washer myself.

I am in same boat . Do anyone have general idea on which of the two stores ( Lowes / HD ) would have better deals during labor day. I have lots on points on my CITI card and want to order a gift card to buy washer/dryer

Not sure about Labor Day, but Black Friday is generally the single best day of the year to buy appliances. Avoid Friends and Family sales - these are mostly scam sales (ex. Sears) where they simply raise prices and then give you the F&F discount.

The smartest way to shop is to simply pick the appliances you want today and track the prices yourself over time - price research well before Labor Day. Don't just buy the appliances that have the biggest discount. If you know ahead of time what you want to buy, you can sit on it until you know you've hit the right discount.

So...any exciting deals? I haven't seen too much in the Hot Deals forum. Personally shopping at the low end for washer and electric dryer. Everywhere seems to have a washer or dryer for about $300-340 each.
