Anyone know if you could use this phone without a cell service plan and:

- connect to local Wi-Fi

- load and run the Ooma Phone App and/or;

- load and run a Google Voice App


I want to give it to my 2nd Grader so she can call me from school (Wi-Fi throughout) for pickup, take a few pics, etc.

She is not ready / doesn't need a cell plan.

She is good with touchscreen apps.

Seems like it should work but never have tried ...

Would it be better to get a cheap camera and a cheap tablet?

I don't know about signal issues but I have two friends with this phone, on Sprint and ever since the ICS update was rolled out, their phones have turned to junk. Slow, constantly crashing and rebooting, poor battery life. Pretty bad.[/QU


I have this phone and I can not recommend it. Hell, if someone would give me $80 for it, I would gladly give it to you so I can move on to something better.

Signal is almost always on one bar and at least 80% of text msgs go out late (phone shows failed transmission but it goes through automatically). Wifey has an old HTC Hero and she will have 4 bars (full) and I will have 1. Furthermore, the wifi signals 3/4 strength sitting on top of the router! It is complete garbage.

It's just the listed condition for each phone, on a scale of 1-10. A lot of the listings have photos so you can judge for yourself what 4 or 5 means to you.

This was $89.99 forever on cowboom and I never needed it. Then last week I went back to Sprint and it jumped up to $220.

Just set my notification last night and I'm glad I did.

I ordered a 5 from Texas this time. Looked in decent enough shape. But I did also get the year warranty just in case something happens 36 days in.

I rly only need the phone to last until Evo LTE comes down and they open up LTE in my market so I am pleased with the price of this.(or maybe Galaxy Nexus)
