I could be mistaken, so please correct me if I am, but don't the PLS panels produce slightly worse PQ than the full on 8-bit H-IPS/S-IPS panels found in the LED Cinema or the Dell U2711?

may i be a troll for a moment. Catleap 27' ebay, 300 bucks. works on mac mini and my pc with nvidia 560ti looks awesome. Con- from Korea no warranty but Ive had 0 issues and many people are the same mostly gamers. however im a big fan of samsung but just cant justify the price, so if u are broke and want a nice alternative this works finE.

Release date is August 21st, but it looks like Amazon had enough pre-orders to push new orders back too mid September. Perhaps there are other re-sellers though.

Drawbacks = 1 year warranty instead of 3. Uglier besel & stand, no USB, and crappier speakers.
Benefits = Display port (LS27B970DS doesn't list displayport in the specs.. might have it, just can't tell from pics)

damnit. i wanted to say "inbefore the catleap comments" but you sir, are too quick for me.

Yeah the catleap monitors are A- grade panels so you may have some issues with them. Personally I'd rather pay for a better quality display but some people have had great luck with the Catleaps.

yeah i hear ya, in my opinion the chances of you getting a bad one is slim. you could buy 3 of these for one of these, but its all up to you. If u have the cash for sure the samsung is the way, but if u want to be thifty this is the way at the end of the day do whatever u wanna do!
not to mention that monitor prices drop often as well.

lol yeah i wanted to get in 1st ha. but im very happy with this monitor it looks just like a mac monitor seriously it does. just without the price.
