Is Paul Ryan a real fiscal conservative? Do his actions support his words? I'd like to learn more about him. |

The answer is yes.
He isnt an extremist ideologue though, so the purists dont care for him. The polls were not skewed, biased, oversampled or wrong. I was. There was no wave, no landslide, I was wrong about that too. Nate Silver is the gold standard of polling analysis.

A fiscal conservative would not use the "savings" from kicking seniors out of Medicare to pay for tax cuts for the rich. Instead, he would preserve efficient programs like Medicare and raise taxes on the rich to pay down the debt. Paul Ryan is really more of an anarchist, if anything. "I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of a home.” -- Ronald Reagan

In terms of medicare, I think you know that seniors don't cost a lot to treat because they don't go to regular check ups. They cost a lot because they are dying. The difference between Medicare and Medicaid is huge. If I appear to be ignoring your posts, it's probably because you are on my ignore list.

Yeah, and I'm voting for him. Thanks baby boomers for giving us all of this debt and being whiney about your benefits! The truth: Management at IRS can blame themselves and how they have chaotic and poor management, but God-forbid you, or I, or anybody else in America gets audited and doesn't have their ducks in order and s***-together, your ass is going to court or jail.
Shout out to Congressman Mike Kelly for stating it as it is... Link [realclearpolitics.com] |

also, any comments form you and your ilk about Obama stealing $700 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare (and then double-counting it to boot)??? or is that ok because it was a black democrat doing it, and we all know a black democrat can do no wrong, right?? but a white republican, oh no, that's "racist"

thanks for staying on topic. that's what I was wondering about ("he has gobs of votes on his record that don't look so good in the Bush year") specifically it just seems that he talks a good fiscally conservative game, but votes 96% of the time along party lines |

[QUOTE=Radeck;52435986]a strawman? afaik he is doing no such thing...afaik he is PHASING in coverage changes over time as new generations retire, so they can plan accordingly...current retirees won't see any changes in their coverage/QUOTE]
Ohhh...I get it. So gutting coverage doesn't matter as long as you call it "changes," right? So if your boss calls you into his office and tells you he's not firing you. Instead, he's "gradually reducing your salary to zero," it's all OK, is it not? Call it what you want, but Ryan proposes to gut Medicare and turn it into a boondoggle as bad as Medicare Advantage--the bloated $700 billion taxpayer giveaway to for-profit insurers that George W Bush and the GOP created. |

1. Cut taxes till they're lower than any other civilized nation 2. Eviscerate GDP-accretive investments such as education, transportation, and science 3. "Oops, darn...there's not enough money in the kitty. We won't raise taxes to meet our needs, so it looks like we Republicans are going to have to pick who gets a tax cut and who is allowed to bleed to death without medical care due to budget cuts. So solly!"
