So I hooked it up and have been using it for a little bit and I would have been satisfied paying 150+ for this. I had bought the Yamaha sound bar from Costco ($189+tax) just to see how a sound bar would be for my bed room (11'x11') and it turned out to be good...but with a built in sub and limited inputs I knew it wouldn't be a keeper.
So far, the Sony is much better in every way...except one that I'll talk about in a sec. The bar itself has a very small profile compared to the Yamaha, I have it sitting in front of my TV and the top of it doesn't even reach the bottom of the TV. The sound fills the room and the surround effect seems good so far...I'll load up a game at some point to see how well the surround effect really works. You can adjust the equalizer on it along with the speaker levels. The sub is more than adequate for a bed room, but I can see it not being enough for a large living room. And that's where the down side is...it's a wired sub, which is bad enough, but the IR receiver is on the sub instead of the bar. So you have to have your sub in view at all times...
But one of the big things for me, for the few people that are in the same boat, NO audio latency. So Rocksmith players (or any rhythm game players), this one is a must buy.
Bastards....yesterday, I ordered last one for store pick up....I just receive a mail that amount has been refunded to paypal account. and there was no reason provided. I believe they bought one for themselves.
went to my local Sears and picked one up for $129.99. They had 4 left but the sticker price still said $299. They had no idea they were on clearance till they rang it up. Almost picked up another two as Xmas gifts but decided to pass. Thanks for posting a great deal!
My local Sears didnt have any for local pick up but I went anyways after work and behold 2 of them were on the floor with a clearance price of $240. The sales person told me to hold a sec as they're in the process of marking them down and the manager sold one for me for $49 I was also able to pick up a Sony CX160 for 99.99. Thanks OP and good luck to everyone that wants one of these nice sound bars at a bargain price!
I really wanted this soundbar to go with my 32" Bravia but wasn't willing to pay $200+. What I liked about this model was the tight integration w/ the Sony TV and all the connectivity options. I really didn't want another remote control.
My local Sears report it as OOS, but another nearby has a "refurb" or display model for $120. I placed the order online and I'll check it out this weekend.
