I know jack about alienware. I need two computers for work that multitask very well. Looking at the xps's but their gone as soon as I put them in my cart.

No. That is not a good deal. You should be able to get something like that for $500 or less. For that price you should be getting a Sandy Bridge i7 and a better graphics card.

Thanks, that's exactly the advice I needed. I saw i7 and didn't even think it wasn't a sandy bridge

I dont need one but I picked up an XPS 8500 in the last sale and its the best PC I've ever owned. I was able to upgrade the GPU to a 6870 (a huge 11.5" one) and add an SSD and it is the fastest, quietest PC I've ever owned. They did a really nice job on it---I built my PC prior to this and i will never do that again.
The time, money and effort it takes to build a PC in the end comes out to be WAY more then just buying one during one of these outlet deals. I paid like 400.00 for my 8500---a lot of refreshing of the page to get the deal but it was so worth it.

is alienware mostly for gaming or is alienware better than xps 8500?
