I think if you're going to do some gaming(SC2, Diablo 3, LoL, HoN), then you should definitely pass on all laptops that only come with integrated graphics.
If you are playing more graphically demanding games such as BF3, then you definitely need something with at least a Geforce GT 525M to play on medium graphics with playable framerates. If the laptop is just for casual use(browsing, watching movies, etc), then integrated is fine, but there have been many Dell outlet deals in the past with at least an i5, 6GB ram, and a Geforce GT 525M for around the $500-$575 range. For the people getting Alienwares: if you're looking to pay $1000 for them, why not just get the ASUS N56VZ from microcenter? http://www.microcenter.com/single...id=0394503 You get the 1920x1080 screen with a 2GB Geforce GT 650M, although it's DDR3, I don't think it makes that much of a difference. |

Please can I get some advice. Looking for a laptop for a high school student. No gaming, just school work, browsing and watching movies. I don't want to spend a lot of money (no more than $400 incl tax/shipping etc), but I don't want to buy something so cheap that she will get frustrated with downloading speed, video freezing, etc.
What are the minimum specs that I should be looking for? Doesn't have to be a Dell. Are the ones in the $300 range not worth it? Thank you! |

but the deals here in the 300's range arent that good, at all. if you have to get one now, go for the inspiron N15 N5050 core i3 / 4gb ram / 320~500gb B950~60 aint much of a downgrade but for a mere $20 difference, go for the i3. but then again, really, a new i3 can be had for around $300 so theres not really a deal here. EXCEPT, i forgot, use the 300 get 50 coupon and it is an ok deal. do you eat poop?
I like to swim in it |

Is this a good deal or should I keep looking for a better one?

It'll definitely run most games on high if that's what you're buying it for. |

Edit: Found it: http://www.anandtech.com/show/554...with-teeth NVIDIA GeForce GTX 555 1GB GDDR5 (OEM) (288 CUDA Cores, 736/1472/3828MHz core/shaders/RAM, 192-bit memory bus) Edit 2: These specs are pretty much identical to the GTX 560 SE on Wikipedia, which doesn't list the GTX 555. Not sure why the two names, or if they're even different. Last edited by georgekoch; 08-19-2012 at 12:00 PM.. |

I'm looking at a desktop at the outlet with a price from $519 to $649. There are 2 Certified Refurbished selling for $549 and $649. There is also a Scratch & Dent for $519.
Why does one of the refurbished sell for $100 more? Why is refurbished worth more than Scratch & Dent (which in my past experience usually look like new)? |

Seems like a solid deal I suppose; I prefer to build my own desktops. |
