nonsense and more nonsense. elderly people have no id? really? you can't take a book out of the library without proving you're a resident of the town/county, can't cash a social security check, can't drive a car, can't buy booze, etc - and if my vote is to mean anything at all, then there has to be some assurance it isn't simply cancelled out by someone voting multiple times under assumed names. I live in Atlantic City. I know lots of old folks who have shared stories of how the political machines of the 1940's through recently (maybe it still goes on?) rigged the votes. One reliable method of fraud they all tell me was rampant was for polling place workers to have friends show up and vote under the names of everyone on the list who hadn't shown up to vote. No i.d. requirement meant all they had to do was sign the person's name in the book, and vote away. If somebody died, their name still stays in the book, and on the voting rolls, because the mechanism to remove those names is they get removed after that person fails to vote in 3 consecutive elections, then they'd have to register to vote again. It is absolutely asinine to argue that under a system where there is absolutely no mechanism whatsoever to determine how many votes were cast fraudulently, that because you can't prove how many fraudulent votes were cast, the answer must be 'zero'.
