If it was from someone besides Dell, I'd be in! Tax and environmental fee... shucks!

Given this is a 16:10 monitor, how will it work when my PS3 tries to output video? I ask this because with my current LG L246WP-BN (P-MVA panel), it could not display MW3 correctly in any output mode (480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p). The image proportions looked fine but there were parts of the HUD that were off the screen. Someone said this might be due to the monitor's lack of 1:1 pixel mapping or the fact it's a 16:10 format?

I'm looking to replace my LG with a new monitor that can be used for both PC and PS3. I'd prefer the 16:10 format for PC desktop purposes but don't want it to interfere with use of the PS3.

Would this be a good candidate?

The U2412M is the perfect monitor to accompany an already very strong line-up of monitors. It brings with it a higher quality IPS panel, 16:10 resolution, DisplayPort connectivity and a good price point.

I was under the impression "e"-IPS is only 6-bit, and therefore not an improvement over previous gen IPS solutions...

this monitor will require an adapter since it does not have an HDMI input. and yes it lacks a 1:1 scaler for 16:9 (720p/1080p) content meaning the picture will be stretched to fit the whole screen. IMO this monitor is not for you since you want to use your PS3.

source: i own this monitor.

inb4 Catleap/Shimian

lol I just ordered a Shimian 27"
I heard these Dells use e-IPS, whereas the Catleaps and Shimians use true 8-bit.

Best you get a line conditioner or a UPS to make sure a power surge doesn't fry your monitor since those things dont come with a warranty. Lol.

I have a PowerVar 7A power conditioner I got recently Wink I'll be sure to hook it up to that. Thanks for the advice. Definitely deserves a rep for that.

nice deal, I love dell monitors but wish they would get rid of the big bezels as im trying to move onto eyefinity/surround at some point, LG has a really nice one coming out that has super small bezel like their high end TV
