NICE! I just subscribed to Comcast (my digital box comes via UPS today), and was looking for one of these. I currently have an old school HD Homerun for OTA recording with WMC and it works great. So I would like to get the PRIME to record cable with WMC and use the XBOX as a Media Extender upstairs to watch there too.

Question, how much is an HD cable card from Comcast these days? Will it work for premium channels like Showtime and HBO? Thanks!

First one is free. Works with every channel except for on demand. Forgot the number to Comcast direct cable card service would have save u bunch of time dealing with someone who knows how to activate one

It probably depends on the location, thought I read some were getting the card free from Comcast. It shouldn't be anymore than a couple dollars though. If you call they could quickly tell you

You get premium channels but no on demand or pay per view (though you may be able to call to order ppv), this is because there is no upstream communication.

This is a great deal and an awesome product. I bought one of these around 4 months ago for $150 from newegg when it was bundled with a remote.

I pay $2 / month for the cablecard from TWC instead of $22 for DVR box service + equipment rental. So far, I'm half way to recouping the cost.

The windows 7 media center GUI is also much better than the TWC one. I also use an xbox in the bedroom as an extender, which is great for finishing a show before going to sleep (media center will remember the stopping point).
