I know that at my local Target, the clearance price is still high.Maybe the OP's store has made the move down to 50% before many others. I can believe this is the case, as with the recent Westinghouse 39" TV clearance deal, the Levittown, NY store was down to $299 last week, while this week, the Farmingdale, NY store, less than 10 miles away, still had it for the full price of $399.

I run my set at 480 Hz and I used to notice that look too and it bothered me, but after you watch it for a while you get accustomed to it and it starts looking normal. 60 Hz seems slow to me now like the screen is dragging.

Good thing these people don't want 60hz. This leaves us with more chances to score a set for the people that do want or don't mind 60hz.

My wife was in Target when I informed her of this deal. They had it in stock but not on sale. We're in San Antonio.

I have a 60hz Samsung 52in plasma that I watch a ton of sports on and play COD and it seems like perfect quality to me (and I have seen other 120 hz TVs), I don't know of hz has more of an effect with LCD though

That's not really true at all. Sports will be running at the same 60 Hz from the cable or over the air provider. The refresh rate really has no impact on how the image will blur - 120 Hz and higher are there for dejuddering caused by the 3:2 pulldown that is processed based on 24 Hz/frame sources like movies on DVD and Blu-ray. With that said, I know a lot of people that don't ever use the 120 or 240 Hz settings because either they don't do anything significant (like on 60 Hz programming) or they add too much of the "camcorder" look to movies and other 24 Hz material.

There is no hi-def source, anywhere, that does higher than 1080p60. It does not exist. Broadcast television can get, at best, 1080i60, and that is very, very rare.

The only time 120hz comes into play is when you're attempting to smooth out 24p playback, because 120/24 = 5, whereas 60/24 = 2.5. Even in this case, the benefits are subtle, and vary WILDLY depending on the manufacturer.

This is the same bullshit we got fed about 720p vs 1080p and plasma vs. lcd/led. Unless you have a specialized use case (computer monitor) ALL you should EVER care about is viewing distance and picture quality.
