A Jeep and a Honda Accord are the same price as well. Diffferent markets.

If you can live with the lens that is on there and/or fitting in your pocket is a must, the RX100 is an excellent choice.

However, the 5n is an outstanding camera. Arguably one of the best available till you get to full frame DSLR (I just couldn't justify the price over a C3, but so wanted too). But it is not really pocketable. But has a ton of other pluses.

The lower price didn't show up for Chrome or Firefox, but IE worked for me.

There's only a slight difference between f1.8 and f2.0. As sdallnct wrote, it's mostly about the sensor. A couple other pros I didn't mention in my previous post:

• Build quality is excellent. I've really come to appreciate the metal chassis' fine tolerances and smooth action. Though image quality, responsiveness, and UI are the priority, it's also nice to have a professional and solid feel in a pocket camera.
• 20 MP isn't a gimmick here (at least not as much as it is for point-n-shoots with high MP and really tiny sensors). Setting it down to 10 MP essentially makes it a 5.1x zoom via optical/crop (and 10x via "clear image" zoom).

It just showed up as $650 for me in Chrome for the first time (prior to this morning, it was always coming up as $585). However, then I tried it in Firefox and it came up as $585. Then I tried it in Chrome and it came up as $585 again. So it's still alive, but I dunno for how much longer.

For CA, after tax, it is the same price if bought from Amazon.

The camera is actually very good. it can replace DSLR for most family, travel use, yet it is at a size of point&shoot.

RX100 is a class of point&shoot by its own, it's indeed a technology breakthrough, like iPhone did back in 2008.

Only if I didn't buy the NEX-5N during christmas.. I would be all over this right now. Oh well..

Depending on what is your need, RX100 can replace Nex for the normal use, like family, tavel. If you do portrait, looking for bokeh, the apcs Nex or any DSLR for that matter, mounting with a fast expensive lens still has an edge. But you pay for size and weight.
