$200 statement credit after 1st use: NFL Extra Points Visa card

Here's the print out of the specifics on the email notice I got from them.
" Offer is valid for select cardmembers and is not transferable. You will earn 20,000 bonus points after you charge over $500 in net retail purchases (purchases that are not returned or rescinded) each month from November 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013. If you do not spend over $500 in any of the 3 months of the promotion, you will not be eligible for any bonus points as part of this offer. To receive your bonus points, your account must be open and in good standing. Purchases made during periods when your account is delinquent, your balance exceeds your credit line or your account is otherwise not in good standing as defined in your Credit Card Cardmember Agreement do not qualify for this offer. Your bonus points will appear on your statement up to 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion. Net retail purchases do not include such things as the purchase of money orders, traveler's checks, foreign currency, lottery tickets, gambling chips, wire transfers, person-to-person money transfers or using the account to obtain a cash advance."
So by what I read is says by the month.

Hopefully someone can answer this for me. I'd like to use my 20,000 pts to buy Amazon gift cards in increments of either $25, $50 or $100. In order to use the pts to pay a $200 balance, does my purchase have to be a $200 purchase (as in one $200 gift card) or can I make several transactions (at various times) for varying amounts? I'm so confused! I guess my question is: If I buy, let's say, four $50 gift cards in four different transactions, will I be able to use the 20,000 bonus pts to pay for the entire amount on my next statement? Thanks so much.

When ordering through Amazon you have the ability to place multiple gift cards in one order, in multiple amounts and to multiple addresses. The purchase has to be $200 in one transaction to use all 20k points at once. So if you buy 8 $25 gift cards for a total order cost of $200, you will be fine.

OH NO! That's not what I did. I went to Meijer last night to buy the Amazon $50 cards for $40/each but had to ring each card up on a separate transaction! Does that mean I won't be able to use my bonus points now?

The purchase has to be a minimum of $25 to allow points to be redeemed. There are other increments for partial and full redemption on each transaction amount. I am assuming that you made 4 $40 purchases. If so, you will be able to cash many points out, but you MIGHT be caught with a few points left over because I don't think there's a way to redeem exactly $40 in points.

If so, all you have to do is buy some gas next month if there's a certain charge you need to cash the rest out.

Whatever you do, don't get caught with less than 2500 points. Then you have to spend more to get back to the 2500 mark for any redemption at all.

That's the one thing I hate about this card. I trust Barclays I guess, but this redemption policy requires a PhD in aeronautical engineering.

Thanks for the reply. I actually bought five cards (plus an additional $16 item), so $216 in total purchases. I should be good to go then, hopefully.
